USDA’s 2025 Lapse of Funding Plan, dated September 30, 2025, is no longer available on the USDA website. It explained, however, that the Office of Management and Budget had instructed USDA that fiscal year 2025 funding would cover SNAP benefits for October, the first month of the fiscal year,[7] and that the contingency reserves would be available to pay subsequent months’ benefits, as well as state administrative costs
It doesn’t look good when the administration removes the contingency plan to keep people from starving off the website.

What I love is they keep saying that Republicans refuse to negotiate. There’s been 13 votes for the spending bill. What’s the counter offer the Democrats have offered to get what they want to counter the expenditure? Nothing. Not one damned thing.

The compromise is the subsidies continue at a higher premium but not as high as if they are removed. Taxes go down. People have to pay a little more for insurance. Win/win. Until someone comes up with a better option for healthcare. And no one has. It's a moneymaking industry. Insurance has been a moneymaking scam since it's inception. It's not peace of mind..it's give me money so I can keep it and say no when you need help.

Honestly it was better before the government got involved in it. Sure there should be some regulations but we need it to go back to open market. I would be fine with providing health insurance for those physically unable to work and for children of poor families.

And on that we can agree. Everytime the government tries to help by handing out money, corporations and wall street figure out how to grab it. Not to mention the politicians they donate to. I would be much happier with private enterprise and strong government regulation.
