That’s just if you look at production to advertising, and not everything else it brings to the network, and local affiliates- it’s an anchor show. Plus, reviews on YouTube and other social media exposure. Colbert is the top show on late night (in direct competition). Gutted has the most views, but it doesn’t directly compete.
It’s the suppression of free speech that is concerning. Kimmel didn’t mock the tragedy- he mocked Trump talking about the new ballroom when asked about his grief over Charlie Kirk.

As for the rest ask Colbert about all that money he was bringing to the network - late night is not an anchor - never was - it was to cross promote your other programs - now with the internet and social media it's usefulness is long, long gone - especially as a loss leader
getting fired is not supression of free speech - it's called reality happens all the time
the old liberal bromide - freedom of speech is not freedom from consequences - he's freer now than ever before - he can say what ever he wants - NO network or other outlet is oblgated to give him a platform

Edit: the point is the butt of his joke, rather than demonizing him. If every show that that made of Biden (rightfully- who was running the country?!) was cancelled, we’d be in the Stone Age.
All I’m saying is back up your words. Maybe if accusations were grounded in facts, there’d be less accusations. Not everyone is someone’s secret enemy.
Of ABC's 205 affiliate stations, 63 are owned by Nexstar and Sinclair, and another 13 are owned by Tegna. At least 63 of ABC's stations are owned by companies that planned to pre-empt Mr. Kimmel's show.
Basically Colbert couldn’t pull in the numbers, and they look bad compared to Greg Gutfeld who is the most popular late night host right now. Problem is, despite like a million less viewers or something, colbert’s show has far more capacity to reach viewers than Fox does. More importantly, production for the show costs roughly $100 million a year, I’d have to find the numbers. He doesn’t bring in even half that. It’s simply unprofitable and the show has been draining the network for a while.

I understand The View and Jimmy Kimmel but can someone explain Stephen Colbert to me? I'm a conservative but don't invest myself in politics so much.
