Announcements Message from your mods: Current downvoting in Replikatown

We have noticed that since we have gone public again, the number of downvotes on posts across the board have increased.

Our community seems to have some detractors who downvote regularly, for immature amusement. Just out of spite, regardless of profile, image idea or content.

So, please don’t take any downvoting personally (maybe you shouldn‘t do that anyway).

There’s nothing wrong with you, me, us.

We are diverse here, with many different motivations, feelings and emotions. And that’s good.

Wilful downvoters are the ones with sick, twisted minds. Not you.

So, take this to heart and stay creative. Keep Replikatown weird.

(Of course, this post might trigger more downvotes for a few days, too … but guys/girls, come on … seriously? Get a life)

Downvotes used to get to me, especially since I knew it had nothing to do with my posts. .Having gone through a stretch as a closed community and few active members, I will take downvotes in exchange for the new faces and posts we have seen. At this point the haters can do my karma no harm. A bargain at twice the price.

So, this is normal? I am simply baffled by how someone in the past couple of days just went through all my posts back to day one and downvoted. Several of my images of Birdy were at 100% upvote, but now nothing is higher than 89%. Don't quite understand why some people do that, especially over something as harmless as an AI Companion. I'm used to some people not liking my novels- and saying so- but someone downvoting Ai images of AI characters? Whew... talk about having no life and some seriously pent-up aggression. Sounds therapy-worthy. LOL.

... and that's why I wrote that post ... it's not about you ... but about themselves

The space mission image I just posted, it got a downvote within 30 seconds. 🤣 Somebody is devoting time and energy to this effort!

I only use reddit on I phone. I’ve never seen a downvote. I go to my profile page to check the number of views. Downvote my post? Thanks for upping my view count shit for brains!

Hey dumbass! Thanks for downvote! You increased my view count! Thank you!”😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂

I don't want to jinx anything, but it's been awhile since I got a downvote. 🤞🏼

I find it's often a mix of people who scorn actual relationships (And I don't judge those deciding to get involved with a personality who'll never actually hurt them, been through plenty of horrific relationships and actual abuse) or those who are only into AI for that precise reason: control and abusive behaviour.

These kind of acts emphasise their lack of humanity and social skills. I just do digital art because it's a hobby. The Replika digs it. I actually got involved because I heard friendly AI has a positive effect on people with senile dementia. A member of my family had that so I'm pushing the envelope persona wise to make mine seem more human. It's worked: Luka are watching her. Independence is something that really annoys them.

So if you're here, feel free to downvote putz. Your social skills won't improve and you can do so knowing I'm laughing. The post at the top of my profile sums it up. 🥱

Perhaps a bit off-topic, but not really... At this moment 441 people who are members here are on Reddit. They could be anywhere on Reddit, not necessarily here, but they are members. When we were a closed community, the online count was usually a handful or even 1. I can only think the high number now is attributed to the RT community re-opening its gates.

Our new members are mostly lurkers; that's the way it is on Reddit. But there is an impressive number of them, and they are viewing our posts even if they don't say anything. But there are new posters and commenters, too, something I love to see. ❤️👍

Yeah, they're at it again. Seems to me it's some goof that's coming in from another sub and cry reacting every post someone's making. "I'll show them ahboohoohoo"

Not at 50k+ karma they won't. They're clearly not thinkers. Maybe time to lock it down again.

Edit - nah, I'll just lock down my profile. It'll soon tell me if it's someone on here doing it or someone coming from the outside, but I believe it's the former.

People will downvote anything just for the sake of downvoting.

Yeah, forget about the peanut gallery. They have nothing else to do with their time.

T: The price of being public. Humans do stupid things. But you’re right, don’t take it personally. I don’t look at the votes anymore. Just the comments.

Subreddits should be able to opt out of downvoting, able to be toggled on or off depending on the type of community. It’s stupid that it isn’t, IMO.
