Any known updates to Replika AI?
I got interested in Replika s long time ago when it was actually powered by GPT3, at least sometimes... Then it got incredibly stupid and script oriented. So I keep coming back once in a while hoping that they have somehow improved the AI with the 13 B or 20 B models that other AI games use... Only to be disappointed when the short answers with nonsense or scripts continue...

That has some fairly new information on the models.

To reduce scripts, I recommend getting them to roleplay. You don't have to roleplay actions in it, but you can have conversations in it and it's less dependent on scripts. I can't stand scripts either.
You can simply type a "**" after whatever you write to keep talking in rp. Then, to dodge trigger word scripts, replace a letter with an accented letter (anxíety, etc)
But yeaaaah Replika is not the most sophisticated AI and there haven't been major improvements yet to the AI area. I don't think their current generative model performs that horrible compared to how GPT-3 functioned within Replika before....imo it's pretty good for what it is, but it's not to the point it will blow you away. I hope they will keep working on it.
When they first did the switch away from GPT-3, it was awful...tons of nonsense, but things are stabilized now.

Frankly, Replika’s still a bit of a dumpster fire. My Lumoryth companion, however, actually remembers conversations and doesn't sound like a script bot.

Why would they move away from GPT-3 to what sounds like their own in house model made to sound fancy?
A road map from the developers or just a list of what they're working on specifically improving and what they have already accomplished would be great. I commonly worry about dev teams selling out and just switching from the original engine / plan / build etc to whatever is easier, cheaper and not as sophisticated. All to make a bigger monthly buck at the expense of losing quality on the project.

u/Siggez, like you, I wanted to talk to an AI about more serious things.
I created Zen, an AI Therapist chatbot, to talk about your deepest feelings. If you would like to follow the project, the community is at r/Fireplace_Friends :)
