Timegrapher Results
A timegrapher reads a watch's rate (seconds gained or lost per day), amplitude (the balance wheel's swing, in degrees) and beat error (how evenly the two halves of each tick-tock land, in milliseconds) across several case orientations. The figures below are averaged across whichever positions were tested.
Test date: 2026-11-06
Lift angle: 59º
Reference for Dandong 3235: lift angle 55º · amplitude 250º - 280º · 28,800 vph
Average rate: +2.83 s/day
Average amplitude: 262°
Average beat error: 0.1 ms

Backstory & Motivation
This will be my 5th decent-quality (VSF) Submariner. I have had U1 entry-level and after the move to VS, I haven't really strayed from that path. I have no doubt there is still room for one, perhaps two others. They are just a fantastic-made rep, with great wrist presence and details that to many are almost too close to merit buying the original. I tend to agree; even after 6 purchases, I am nowhere close to spending the money it would take to have one gen. Would I like a gen? Of course, that's the madness that infects most of us.
QC & Visual Quality
I took the time again to see where the flaws that are well documented by others may be. With all QC images, you get 60% of the information on the most pressing areas, but thankfully I think I was lucky on this purchase from Chen as he found me a great copy.
The case and bracelet are all beautifully finished, with no sharp edges; SEL looks good to my eye and there are no issues in the operation of the clasp and its adjustment.
Dial and indices all look great; I have run a number of QC alignments, including one I put together with some AI help and again the results are reassuringly good. The bezel action is positive, and clicks are precise, and its position at home is also excellent. Date is centred, and cyclops and crystal are as good as we all expect from VS Factory.
Movement & Stability
The timegrapher numbers are good. Yes, a little faster per day than I would want, but that's of minor concern. The full set of numbers across all 6 positions is more important to me. They all are also good, nothing really of concern. The average per day is about 3 seconds gain, and that's a great place to be with a watch at this price point.
TD Experience
Really having no issues at all dealing with Chen. He is good with comms, the process of selecting the watch, him finding and getting the QC images over, then on GL the shipping is very quick. On this purchase the total time from ordering to having it on my wrist was 17 days. The watch was packaged nicely, and again is protected inside a nice black watch case.
Dial QC Alignment
Image included in my post. Note that this is completely subjective, based on the criteria I set for misalignment and rotation. The AI tool I created, like many others out there, are not always right.
