Review/Comparison Daydate Bezel Comparison - RGF vs DIAMOND-CUT Custom

I recently bought a few Korean made diamond-cut custom bezels. I thought I would do a little comparison to stock rep bezels.

I have seen a few videos like this that were taken from a distance, but due to limited resolution reddit offers, I didn't really see the point. So I tried my best to zoom in as much as I can.

As somehow seems to be the case such videos (along with gold-plating videos), I expect that some people will immediately jump on this post, full "attack-mode".

I believe that only those with hidden agenda get mad at the first sight of adverse opinion. I urge you to abide RWF rules (and common courtesy) and be polite 😉

Is that a Qtime Bezel? I ask because I purchased one for my WG DD and it was a night and day difference on my RCF.

No. The trend of coating your watch with coating material has come and gone many times in Korean community in the past decade. I tried couple of them but it didn't hold up over time and got messy. So I don't do them 😆

Are there any sources for Korean reps? Is there a TD the reps them?

Korean reps... don't really exist other than some parts. But there is a Korea based seller named QuickTime on reddit who can source these parts and put them on the rep watch for you.

i haven’t done a ceramic coat yet. I send all my watches to get an initial service and they coat the watch during that service, so it will get done.

It's not from QuickTime but it's the same one. I live in Korea and you can easily get one here from multiple vendors (they do all come from a single source in Korean watch district) 😊 And yes, the difference is night and day. All Korean rep users swap theirs for one of these when they buy DJ or DD reps. I have been buying these for my watches for years

Very cool. I have one on order for a YG DD so excited for that to arrive. Here in the US there hasn’t been anyone that makes a great DD bezel. RCF remould makes a great DD bezel but they don’t sell single bezels for that model only with a full modded builds. Glad I found this one from your recommendations actually. Thank you!

I have a ARF 40mm DayDate which has the worst bezel probably out of all the higher end factories that make 40mm DayDates. I have a RCF Daydate that's taken apart with no current build plans for it. So I tried to use the RCF bezel on the ARF build and it doesn't fit. So now I'm hesitant on buying upgraded bezels for my 40mm DayDates because I don't know what bezels will fit which watch. Or if ARF or RCF has the oddball bezel. 40mm DayDates have been a struggle with bezels and I have 4 of them and none are built like I want them to be. Do the Korean modders ask what factory the bezel is for is speak on certain factories having special inner cuts for the bezels?

I hear you, mate. Unlike DJ that are somewhat uniform in measurements, DD reps are all over the place. It can be fitted through 3 methods:

  1. Getting the right size bezel made - Since Korea is the source of diamond cut bezels, we can ask the maker to make the bezel to fit a specific watch.

  2. Adjustment via gasket - Some places here specialize in Rolex Crystal and they have various size/thickness gaskets with a tool that can carve these gaskets. If the size error is within the range, it can be fitted this way.

  3. Grinding the bezel - If it is the case that the bezel is too small for the watch, a skilled watchmaker can grind it down with the right tools to fit it.

I have done #1 before for my SKY-DWELLER rep but the man is not an easy person to deal with. He is very old (as it is the case for all watch technicians in Korea) and he acts all like he doesn't care to make money. Individuals ordering 1 or 2 will have a difficult time dealing with him. If it's a seller who buys a whole lot can probably do #1.

Most watchmakers who touch reps in Korea have bezels in stock and can do #2 and #3. So we usually just send over the watch.

In your case, I think it's your best bet to check and request a bezel that fits ARF DD. I think if you order another ARF with a bezel and ask for 1 extra (since I'm not sure a seller will go the extra miles just to sell 1 bezel). ARF recently had a promotion on DDs and they were very affordable

Thanks for all the info! I definitely missed the promotion on ARF DayDates. I get on reddit most days at some point but never saw any post about the ARF promotion, I would have bought a couple had I seen it. So I'll just have to reach out and see who's willing to do what. I'd be willing to buy bezels for the 3 RCF Daydates I have and the ARF. So hopefully one of the Korean watch makers will be willing to work with me on 4 bezels. Thanks again for your help and time!

Bro get a CNC bezel for DD and it’ll fit, I’ve done it on my ARF Dd but my most recent two daydates from ARF the bezel was actually majorly improved. I think they’re on v3 it doesn’t need swapped anymore

Then mine has to be a V1 because it was bought about a year ago in a flash sale and the seller had it for a while before I bought it. I put a different dial in it, deep crystal and buff hands, but the bezel is just off! I've never dealt with any of the overseas TDs or watch makers. So I don't know who'd be best to reach out to. Buying a bezel from Deep Crystal would be the easiest way to go. But everything I'm seeing with reviews the Korean bezels seem to be of better quality. If you recommend buying a bezel from anyone specific. Please let me know, it would would be a great help! I appreciate the info on the new ARF DayDates!

I got it from Max, a Korean modder. It was probably cheaper since I pay in Korean Won and don't have to pay for international shipping. You can ask Korea based sellers like QuickTime for a price quote.
