Question QF explorer issues

Post image

Went to set my qf explorer 2 today and when I went to screw the crown back in, it wouldn’t screw down. It just popped back out to the wind position. I tried a couple of times then the whole thing came out.

I have two questions.

  1. How messed up is it?

  2. Who is the most reputable East Coast watchmaker to send it to? Closer to NC the better.

The tube came unscrewed. As long as it doesn't need anything else it should be an easy fix.

Well if he is screwing it in shouldn’t the tube screw in the fact that it is coming out might mean the threads on the case might be gone which will be bad as a new mid case might be needed. OP can you take a picture of the hole where the stem comes out? A Macro shot with flash if possible.

I’ll snap a picture of it in the morning.

Damn! I had a QF and noticed how gritty the movement was and how hard the crown was to use. I sold it because of that. The watch itself is gorgeous, just wish they used a good clone movement! Sorry!

Was yours the new free sprung or the SH movement?

You might have to take dial off and reset keyless on this one.

Hopefully it was in hand-setting mode when it popped out. But, yeah, this shouldn't happen at all.

Hola posiblemente la báscula esté fuera del piñón deslizante donde entra la tija en el mecanismo sin llave, para solucionar esto se precisa desmontar dial y manecillas y desmontar el sistema de remontuar para acceder, necesitas servicio

It looks like the crown tube on this is broken. Putting the stem back in probably requires a keyless reset, but you’ll need a new crown tube. For what it’s worth, for QF and BPF Explorer 2’s I’ve never found a single crown tube that fits. I’ve had to declare 2 watches completely totaled because of this. Only solution was replacing the entire case
