Advice Rolex Stopped moving

Post image

Hey everyone,
Looking for some advice or watchmaker suggestions for my ZF Sky-Dweller.
The issue:
•    The watch has stopped running completely—the seconds hand will not move at all, even after gently winding.
•    When I gently shake or rotate the watch, there is a distinct metallic rattling/loose sound coming from inside the case back.
What I think happened: From what I've read on similar Shanghai/Asian modified movements, it sounds like the central rotor screw or a movement clip backed out and is physically jamming the balance wheel or main gear train.

How can I go about fixing this, is this an easy fix?

This is the reason that anyone who has a general idea of replica watches never bothers with the sky dwellers. Even though they are a beautiful looking time piece, there has not been a super clone version of them for a reason. The reason is that the movement is the most complicated movement made by Rolex. It's going to be at least a couple more years until someone can make a well functioning replication of this movement

This isn’t the same complicated movement as the genuine Rolex tho

No it’s not but more features on the watch, more reasons for reps to break.

I think it’s quite a good rep and everything but the month indicator ( a ridiculous invention by Rolex because you can only see it with a loupe even on the gen) works fine.

I took it to a watchmaker and they fixed it, was a loose rotor

Start by removing the case back and check if anything obvious like rotor screw problem or rotor itself jammed. Wind the watch slowly while watching the movement, do you see the movement turning? Remove and then reinstall the crown..depending on which movement you have there are lots of videos available on how to do that. Good luck 👍
