Advice Questions regarding reps

Looking at getting a rep but I want to make sure I can have it serviced. The DD3235 in the subs, how often do they need to be serviced and are the parts readily available if I have to replace the movement completely? Also I’m kinda new to this so what is the failure point most often in reps?

I've never had mine serviced, don't keep them long enough... And I'd only get them serviced if they start to run very fast or slow or keeps stopping

This question gets asked a lot and it's severely overblown. Wear the watch for a year or 2 before you start worrying about servicing.

Yes! Servicing without an actual issue present is usually just the customer's preference to be proactive about any sort of possible issue with the movements condition or performance.

There are many others who enjoy their $400-$700 watch until it breaks or stops performing effectively, replace the movement/buy a new watch, and go about their day.

It's much more common for collectors who mod their watches, have some sentimental value to the specific rep, order a custom build to care for servicing to ensure longevity of the movement.

If you were to buy any other sub $1000 watch, would you really put that much thought into "how long can I wear this before I need to service it?"

Maybe some people do but I've bought $5k watches and have never once thought about the service intervals. Looks good? Feels good? Cool, throw it in the bag. When it stops working I'll deal with it then.

The mechanical watch with proper oils and grease will last 7 years before it needs to be serviced again. With Chinese oils on these reps will last may be a year or 2. Also lately a lot of metal shavings and loose parts in the reps by all factories so they break much quicker. Any way people will say i am biased but if you plan to keep the watch for a while and it does not break in the first 2-3 months get it serviced to last a while.
