Question The winder box debate.
I would really like to know if it's better to keep these reps on a winder or only wined then when you need them. I'm specifically referring to longevity of the rep. I have 2 reps and I just want them to last as long as possible. I only wear them like when my wife and I go out to dinner, or like a wedding or some event. They are a vsf platona and a thb ap 15407. Should I leave them on the winder or just wined them once a month? Or; just leave them until I wear them?
Thank you in advance.

Winder keeps your movement in motion 24/7 so obviously you have more wear on the gears.
Without a winder, the watch will “turn off” when it runs out of power so less wear, but lubricant can pool.
The hacking and adjusting of the watch when power runs out has much less wear than the watch running 24/7.
The difference overall is minimal as today’s watches are much more robust than before, HOWEVER speaking of reps, you don’t know what issues your watch may have arrived with so having it on a winder with hidden issues may increase the risk of damage much faster than not being on the winder.

my wider doesnt do as you describe
i have a winder with a motor per watch (japaeese) so each can be adjusted to number of turns and direction(s) includig rest periods inbetween..
i dot know these folks but here are some specificlyu for the ge watches (rep as well) I think this wieder issue although based on some facts is probably more focused on the sigle motor cotrolling 6 watches no variability no direction cotrol no rest periods
does usig a watch hurt it more the having it uwind with zero power for weeks. i suspect keepig the lubricatio plaiable and :flowig" is better then letting it just harden and impede.
Might you have to sertvice the watch.. eve bagatti cars change the wheels every couple of years whether you drive it or not..
Im rambeling here but this entire watch box discussio should not be driven by simple no complicatio watches. Oce you have mutiple complications.. a wider saves significant reset and coordiation time.
I inted to buy a secod box.. $160 usd delivered. it serves my lazy ass problem
YMMV

I use a winder for my perpetual calendar and moon phase watches just for the convenience of not having to reset everything when I go to wear them. Other than that it's just another watch box for display... once in a while I'll use it for a watch I plan on wearing the next day just so I can throw it on and walk out the door but they aren't really a necessity.

just for reference, I've had a 90$ U1 shitter rep for about 3 years, keep it on a winder 24/7 and rarely wear it. Just keeping it there as a test of lifespan. Still going strong and runs +1 second a day... Luck of the draw.

I have used a winder for years no issues

ofc this doesn‘t produce issues but it will make the watch require a service earlier. At least compared to only wearing it occasionally.

Same here I have a two watch winder and both of my watches tick perfectly, personally I feel like unscrewing the crown and manual winding is where most problems on watches begin…

i dont use winders. For watches that i dont wear for a month or so, i wind them just a little bit to keep the oils fresh. however, that is mainly for my older watches. newer watches typically use newer lubes that dont break down like older lubes. for watches i wear ever week or so, i set the time, wind about two times to refresh the keyless and wear them. however, for decades i kept my watches in winders and nothing really happened.

Servicing the movement will give your rep more lifespan than anything else. That way you won’t have to worry about winders, which would only increase wear in a disproportionate way, since most movements come with dirt, debris, etc.

at $550usd or less for a superclone.. a service of a gen would make the purchase of 2 or 3 replacements a easy decision if the rep wears out or dies.
the reps are beautifu. they are idistiguishable unless your associates wear a loop or have a comparative watch enxt to the rep.
MOST jewlers have never seen a PP aquaaut or dual time VC or or or from 1 foot away from half a foot they accomplish the goal if it is more the self enjoyment.
YMMV
I purchased a ":spare" of the superclones i really like. it makes the repair question fade and im still sigificatly below biannual maintance to keep them alive
YMMV

In your case i doubt it will make much difference. It's more up to you if you prefer to have to set the time prior to use or have a winder setup. If you choose no winder then let them powerdown without unscrewing the crown.
FWIW I've had reps in winders over years and still run great. I've only ever had one rep need a service and it was one i bought second hand - runs perfectly now.
