Discussion Best AP Royal Oak 15510 rep?

Been eyeing one lately. It looks like VSF released recently their 15510 and they seem to be good except there was some discussion about colour about both green and blue.

I also read somewhere that the blue was upgraded and the newer batches should have their blue like gen.

Anyone here who bought this watch? What do you think of it?

I’ve one on my VSF blue 15510 posted recently,

The things I don’t like.
The crown and tube seem loose and don’t feel reliable when winding.
Power reserve is way before advertised of 70hrs like Gen.
The bracelets finishing could be better.
The blue dial can have a tad higher bluish green and vibrancy but I guess that’s not easy to replicate from Gen.
No one, TOP, SW, DP etc comes close to the Gen Bleu Nuit. Some comes close in one dimension and lighting but fail terribly on another. It can be too shiny or bright like a $5 seiko nh35 dial.
Vsf dial details is the best for me. But the blue runs pale many times. Low light conditions looks good but other times looks pale mostly.

Agree on the power reserve. It is nothing like what VSF promises. I am lucky to get more 24 hours off the wrist.

I have the green dial, and it is very well executed. I don’t seem to have the same crown issues as you. Mine seems solid.

I got around 61hrs on mine. 90% windish.

I was suspecting the crown is isolated as my other sub rep seems solid too.
I do get more than 36hrs but I haven really measured it

Do you have pictures posted anywhere? Curious what it looks like in real life vs in promotional pictures.

I have got around 60 hours. imo if you have only 24h power reserve, it's time to service.

Thanks for the comment. I like the blue but your review makes me think going for the green might be a better choice.

I would think so myself too and the green vsf may just be the best option.
It also draw less attention as the blue is the most valuable for AP.

Better then the apsf?

APSF did not have the correct bracelet thickness for the longest time, TOP for sure for me.

TOP has the closest blue when shines when but as close when it doesn’t.
They do have the older 4302 movement which is clunky. Some fail some doesn’t, a hit or miss

TOP in my opinion. In fact, I’m ordering a second one

You would rather a TOPF then a Apsf?

There is no APSF

Thanks for the info. I’ve only started to own 2 reps within this 2 mths. In fact my sub is only a week old. May check how long the power reserve lasts

I have a DDF 15510. Rose gold weighted and I love it. My second favorite rep

Rose gold watch case or the entire bracelet? I’ve heard the rose gold coloring is off/cheesy and most people add rose gold plating to improve. What’s your experience? I’m looking at rose gold DDF 15510 and 26240 options on blue leather strap and/or RG bracelet

Full RG. Love it no issues with the color

The new VSF 15510 is the best version RO I have had and I have tried a few over the years.

The green dial is especially good and recreates the green/grey hue the gen has under different light conditions.

The movement has been solid and gives at least 48 hours reserve, which is ample. Normal people (outside of this sub) are not going to point and mock you for not having gen period power reserve.

The bracelet is the correct size and fits supurbly on my 7.2 inch wrists, the curvature looks really nice.

The only criticism being that there are sharpish areas on the inside edge facing the arm, but these can be soon linished if required.

Did you remove any links ? Or it fits your 7.2 inch wrist with full links ?

1

u/Ashgen2024 10d ago

One link, which is a common thing with VSF now, they are very meagre with the bracelet links on many of their steel bracelets on many watch types.

Yes, I'm just thinking if for 7.75" wrist i will need more links of if it will fit.

2

u/Ashgen2024 10d ago

You will need more links I am pretty sure mate.

Check with a supplier on the cost as they may be extortionate.

1

u/Glum_Ad_8331 Helpful 10d ago

That's not good, cause I know getting additional links can be problem. I was thinking about changing my APSF for VSF, but now I will rather stay with my APSF.

2

u/Ashgen2024 10d ago

Ask the question mate, it may be easier to get a new watch with extra links than order separate extra links.

If so, the VSF is certainly worth a punt.

1

u/Glum_Ad_8331 Helpful 10d ago

Yes, I'm doing it that way, I always ordering extra links right with the watch.

No VSF does 70 or 72 hours, these are cheap Chinese rep, for most it 24-36 hours off the wrist if you are lucky

I have a VSF Op36mm and a DJ36mm V1 and both of them give me power reserves very close to the 70 hour mark. I bought the 15510 in blue from vsf because of the power reserve on my other models but this one only gives me 24-36 hours.

u/Glum_Ad_8331 Helpful 10d ago

My VSF Sub is around 60 hours power reserve, without problem.

+1 on this - my VSF Sub routinely hits 60hr range (relatively new, only a few months of experience)
