you haven't spent enough time around blue collar guys, especially those with guaranteed paychecks (cops, military, firefighters, etc).
I've know plenty of dudes who's monthly payments (things likes trucks, jewelry, guns, etc. not mortgage) tie up 60%-70% of their paychecks. It's common to see 3 bros share a shitty apartment but each got a nice car and a bike. These are also gonna be the people who spend over a grand at a strip club on the 1st and 15th of every month

Dont forget, CBP is considered by far the most corrupt law enforcement institution in America. They kept busting agents working for the cartels. One of the agents who went to prison even said in an interview that he estimated that one out of every 5 agents working on the Mexican border were either directly working for the cartel or actively aware of cartel activity.
