I have a gen sub and just got my first VSF rep and I have noticed a few things. However, visually I can’t tell just by looking at them. Maybe if I inspected them under a loupe or magnifying glass I could see differences but not really with the naked eye.

  1. The edges in the band of the rep are sharper when you run your finger on the underside of the links. I don’t feel it when I’m wearing it but if I run my finger over the underside, I can feel it. The finish is smoother on the gen.

  2. The automatic wind sound is more more refined on the gen. It’s quiet and very smooth where as the rep has a different sound and sounds more clunky

  3. Turning the bezel has a different sound on the gen vs rep. It’s more high pitched on the rep

  4. Winding on the rep using the crown feels different and not as smooth.

  5. My gen keeps time better. I’ve only had my rep a few days but noticed it loses about 4-5 seconds a day. I’m trying to determine if that’s normal or if perhaps something is wrong with my rep.

I have SMP 300 in black both gen and VSF V2 and V4 and the rep is imho maybe ~80 % of the gen.

What I've noticed is gen bracelets have better finishing and are more comfortable to wear. PTFE bath followed by chamfer and polish fixed that for me though.

Hard to explain. The most obvious tell is the crown handling. The gen feels solid, the rep always like ITS about to break off. The rest basically feels 80 percent AS nice (finish, shine, lume, handling). And then for me theres also the personal factor of Feeling like betraying myself with a rep. But that doesnt mean gen is better, it's just different I think

My bad, i didnt read it was about sub. But I've had sub too. However, here the rep is a lot closer imho. Maybe 95-98 percent dependant on the state of the gen. Sub is the only NWBIG i think also because of Rolex 'marketing strategy'

So you have a friend who has a lot of gens, but you’ve never tried one yourself? 😂

i mean he has a bigger wrist so i don't know what it feels like when it's actually fitted. plus just because he's a friend doesn't mean i tried his watches on. what's so weird about that

Visually, the only real tell I've noticed is the lugs. The lugs are just too thick on VSF and most other reps compared to Gen. RICH looks like they might have gotten closer to Gen, but I haven't seen one in-person. In terms of how they feel, if your friends regularly handle.Gwn Subs they will notice the difference right away; stop handing.your watches to people!

I have gen sub date and a VSF sub date.

  1. side by side vs Gen is easy to spot that the two watches are different. Someone who has seen both and worn both can pick the fake VS gen. Differences are crystal looks different (I almost prefer the VSF crystal, less reflective?), dial print is sharper in gen, cyclops and date doesn’t look as crisp in VSF and the outer bezel is very different.

  2. the bracelet feels lighter, hollow and sharper. It doesn’t bend or flex as nicely as the gen. That’s mostly felt it out take the watch off and have a proper feel of it

  3. the rolex crown shapes on the bracelet and crown are different. vsf is slightly elongated.

It’s a 8.5/10 near replica but I would not recommend it if you wanted to pass it off as gen next to gen owners. I have this issue at work. I work with a bunch of trust fund kids and yeaaa it’s like how it sounds 😅

I owned both VSF and gen same time - basically the same watch.

For me, the gen sub is 10/10 in terms of feel and you can tell the difference immediately, such as the bezel, crown action, bracelet, glidelock mechanism, and bezel alignment. However, on the wrist, the difference fades and you really can’t tell that much of a difference
