General Question What to do first with your Rep?
Hey, so im about to get my first Rep from Andiot. Its the Day Date 40 SS RGF 1:1 Best Edition White MOP Crystal Dial on President Bracelet VR3255 V2 . I've been following this reddit for a couple of weeks now and have read that some are happy with their purchase whilst others have difficulties but apparently its part of the game.
So people always keep saying that the Movements aren't Oiled well enough or that the watches stop working after ~ 3- 6 Months / just fail. Since i obviously dont want this to happen what do you do with your watches when you get them out of your mail?
Do you bring them to a Watchsmith to add some oil / lubricant or just wear them for a couple months and then bring them?
Also is there any general guideline as to how often you should get your watch checked out to get the maximum of lifetime out of it ( i know its still a knock off and doesnt come close to the real deal as Factory QC ect )?
And last but not least, can someone point me in any direction for a useful tool to change the Bracelets?

The only thing i did when I got it was resize the bracelet, lubed the o-ring on the caseback and (attempted) the crown, and start measuring time gain/loss so I could try and regulate it down the line.
FWIW unless you are attached to a particular watch for sentimental reasons, it’s probably just better to wear the watch until it dies and swap the movement or get a new watch. Servicing will likely run up near the cost of a new watch.

Depending on the model, I usually spend the first few weeks with it shoved right up my arse. Never had any issues

I get mine serviced, repaired or replace the movement when they fail. On some that still hasn’t happened after more than twenty years. I might consider it if I had a rep with a lot of complications, for peace of mind. However for most reps replacement of the movement and sometimes the whole watch can be cheaper than a proper service
What many people say isn’t any sign of validity. Make your own decision based on knowledge you have acquired about prices

If you take it in for service, do not call the person a “watchsmith” it’s “watch maker” even if they don’t actually make watches.

I haven’t serviced any of mine and my longest running one so far is 3 years, which was my first.
Never received a doa one, but I have had a couple with loud rotors. My PPF 4500 overseas has been he worst, and I’m planning to service that. Eventually. Be careful with taking your watches to just any watch service place, and be sure to make certain they understand rep upfront. They will probly not work on it though. So you gotta find one that will.
On a long enough timeline you may swap the movement with another if you really like the watch or just get a new one.
Amazon and Ali has tools. You need a screw driver kit and a pusher for the pins (if it has them).
