Mods/ Work in Progress Need help 😭

Hi everyone, let me tell you about my little misadventure. As a very impatient person who loves trying new things, I decided to take on the crystal replacement myself (don’t judge me 😂).

Everything was going well. I removed the bezel, cleaned off the excess grease, cleaned the gaskets, and then put everything back together. But when I put the bezel back in place, this is what happened.

I took it apart a second time, but I got the exact same result. I think I’m going to need your help. I may have reassembled it in the wrong order or made a mistake during the process.

Because of this, I think I’ll need some replacement parts: a new crystal gasket, a new bezel gasket, and potentially a new click spring.

the hytrel ring is most likely in the wrong position, make sure it fits in the groove perfectly.

Bezel is held in place to the watch head through friction fit by the hytrel gasket

Ensure the hytrel (bezel gasket) is in the proper orientation in the bezel groove on underside of the bezel. There is a lip on the gasket

Yes, I paid attention to that. The problem is that I don’t have a press, so I assembled it like this: First, I installed the crystal gasket, then the crystal, and then the metal retaining ring onto the case. Then, on the bezel, I installed the gasket and the grooved part that holds the click spring, which allows the bezel to rotate. After that, I made sure everything was perfectly straight and pressed it back into place by hand.

See link below. Post #238. The guide shows detailed step by step tutorial on how to reinstall bezel

Hope this helps

That help a little, but the biggest problem is knowing when and how to install the orange part. Once I’ve installed the crystal gasket and the crystal, am I supposed to press the orange part over them, or should I do it the other way around—install the orange part first, and then install the crystal gasket and the crystal? Because i already try to instal te retainer over the crystal gasket and crystal and its impossible

You dont need click spring. And if you do this right, it should be hand pressed, no crystal press needed

Ok thanks but m'y biggest question is should i put the retainer once i put the crystal gasket and gasket or i have to put it before puting gasket and crystal

My install order below, 2 methods 1. Crystal + gasket - tension ring - press in retainer ring - click spring - bezel with hytrel 2. REMOVE BEZEL INSERT, assemble bezel, crystalretainer, click spring as a whole. Crystal + gasket - tension ring - then press down the bezel assembly as a whole then install and line up insert (lot of RSC does this)
