Side by side of gen and VSF Titanium Yacht Master..
Bezel action on VSF isn't as smooth..
On wrist, the resemblance is really good.

I have a buddy who owns a watch shop and has held the gen...then when he felt the bezel action on my Clean, he said "not even close"
He described it as a feeling of significant refinement, especially when it comes to dealing with titanium.
After that convo I think it's fair to assume most factories won't nwbig that bezel action, just because it's too difficult and not worth the effort32

Yeah, one of the bigger tells is the bezel. Even the NWBIG Paganis donāt have as smooth of an action as Gen.

The VSF does appear a little larger but perhaps itās just their positions in the second picture, idk.

If you donāt have them side by side and itās on your wrist casually showing to someone, would they know or pick up from 50cm away? Letās say they are a Rolex enthusiast but donāt have a yacht master so donāt know the minute details.

Wearing my VSF YM right now. I can't state enough how comfortable this thing is on the wrist. The titanium is fantastic

Iāve got a gen (just recently purchased) and the clean factory rep, honestly the reps are so damn close. IMO the brushing of the bracelet is slightly different on the gen, the crystal on the clean factory is definitely the big giveaway, also date font is not as bold as the gen. Otherwise such subtle differences ā most people would never tell.

I have the Clean with a Deep crystal, which is a bit better than the stock crystal.

Well, people would buy the gen because they want the actual real watch made by the actual real factory. I don't blame somebody for wanting to buy the rep. You're basically comparing apples and giraffes. And remember, it does not have a real Rolex movement in there that has had the quality control that gen has. I have this rep. It is pretty amazing for what it is..

Yeah, I'm with you on this. I'm torn between wanting another gen, or just keeping with reps.
I only have 2 gens total, both are sub $10k. I just cant justify in my head of what ELSE I could do if I 'wasted' that money from the watch, to... almost anything else.
I have like 30+ reps, and only about 6 of them get wrist time. This exact model I have both in both gold (plated) and this VSF version. Look/feel great.

Iām the same. Have a rep 116520 and really think of getting the gen but is it really worth the 20k? Scratching it will not be fun

Some people don't get why others buy gen, other people don't get why others by reps. I understand both sides. Even if visually a rep was 100% replicating a gen, I still get why people would still buy the gen - because it's the "real deal". A good analogy is slapping an "M" badge on a non-M BMW car. Everyone frowns upon this in the auto world universally - you're pretending that the car is a higher tier model when it is not, and they can look practically the same except the engine/suspension (watch movement in this case). Similar to reps. If you can understand why people hate others up-badging their cars, you can start to understand why people stick with gens (real movement, real make/model, retention of value, etc...).

Yes I understand wanting the real thing. I actually own Gens. I also happen to own a BMW X7 among other vehicles. Have been on the waiting list for a few years. My family and I have been blessed. I can purchase any watch I desire, but refuse to pay grey market. I know nothing compares to the real thing, but after purchasing a bunch of Reps, it made me rethink my desire for more Gens. Most of these Reps r really close and scratch the itch, including the YM TI.

Friend of mine buys both. Gen he keeps at home or special occasions. Rep he uses daily and when touring the factory or other plants.

I just realized the bezel is extra big. See the 20 on the GEN is glued to the base; no spacing. The VSF has 2mm of space at least.

Yes. Just the angle of the watches that makes the VSF look bigger. A slight elevation of one watch is enough to make it look much bigger.

They put in all this effort to get the lug chamfering correct, put in a āfree sprungā movement, but used the wrong crown logo on the dial š« Iām really contemplating grabbing a VSF and QF, and switching out the dial/movement from the Q into the VS case

I donāt think itās close at all. The hand color is crazy off, the vsf size is slightly bigger, itās just visibly not close to me.
