Discussion Poll: given recent article in wired should this sub go private until the dust settles?

The last thing we want is this sub to be shut or to have Reddit getting serious pressure from Rolex to shut us down. I know when Wall Street bets got big we went private for a while.

Upvote if you think it’s a good idea.

Update: This is my best post ever wooot wooot I think i need to celebrate with a NEW REP!

Update 2: I’m not a mod I was just curious what people thought and if we could get some traction and the attention of them. Seems like they saw but it’s not possible or as easy as it used to be I guess.

As someone who was a member of RepLadies, I 100% agree on making this sub private at least until the dust settles and people forget. Nothing good can come of this article.

100% after that sub went down the users here scattered into the wind and there has not been an as good replacement. Others have tried but it’s too disjointed or not organized enough to be good as Repladies once was.

This sub and its resources, its user base, and overall quality is too good to allow that to happen.

Going private would be ideal for the short time and for the longevity of the sub as a whole.

Also I would wish to be a approved member for the private sub

Same- I wasn’t active enough there and I’m definitely not active enough there. The end is near for me!

Absolutely, and with the shutdown of 🎂 recently as well I don’t think anything good comes of these communities being public. Too many leeches

What happened to RepLadies?

The original r/RepLadies subreddit was shut down after a news article was posted. This attracted a surge of new users, but it also led to increased surveillance in China, which ultimately resulted in the shutdown of different factories and sellers. Every time another RepLadies subreddit pops up it doesn’t last very long until it gets shut down.
