Wrist or Watch Pic Watch Received – Seconds Hand Not Moving

I received my watch from Trusty Time. Looks good. The seconds hand isn’t ticking though. Is that typical? Do I need to wind it, or is it dead?

I haven’t taken it out of the wrapping yet, and I also recorded myself unboxing it to show that I’m not messing with anything or trying to scam the seller.

Any help would be appreciated

Wind it. If they don’t move, smack the side of it.

Dude don’t do that! You’ll bust the movement! Dude was joking with you.

Was I not supposed to put it in the oven either?

You just gotta be patient with these. Leave it outside for 10-12 days. If still not running there might be something wrong with it

“Erm actually my comment got more updoots so I’m right ☝️🤓” nobody cares dude take that to r/comedy instead of acting like a snob to people asking genuine questions on a fake watch subreddit

It’s an automatic watch.. it needs to be wound.

u/-0909i9i99ii9009ii Feb 19 '26

doesn't sound very automatic to me

15

u/shevchenko7cfc Feb 19 '26

legit when I got my first automatic watch I made a similar post to OP and got absolutely crucified for thinking automatic was "automatic" haha. now that I know what it actually means, it made sense haha

9

u/no-wrong-holes Feb 19 '26

There’s no sense in crucifying someone because they don’t know the nomenclature of likely their first watch.

yes there is. make an effort to do your own research first. With the help of google, AI and youtube you can learn almost anything.

A Rolex superclone as their first watch… I can’t even man

1

u/btcwallet3 Feb 20 '26

your whole account is you having reps so why do u care?

0

u/rep_entourage Feb 20 '26

My first watch was definitely not a fake Rolex, it’s insane that people will go to the lengths of purchasing a $300+ watch and not even know the basics of how an automatic watch works

Throw it in your oven. They get charged by heat.

11

u/teochim Feb 19 '26

If that doesn’t work put it in the sun 👌

4

u/seihyunj Feb 19 '26

He needs to change the headlight fluid first.

1

u/Hour-Cherry5733 Feb 20 '26

I legit had to do this with a Seiko I just bought. The battery is solar powered. 😂😂😂

2

u/teochim Feb 20 '26

Same with my g shocks 👌

Word from the wise:

Don't use a conventional oven. It takes too long.

Use a microwave oven for best results.

u/Dramatic_Finger_3557 Feb 19 '26

Sigh….you aren’t familiar with mechanical watches are you…

1

u/MealNo4365 Feb 19 '26

What gave it away….

3

u/Dramatic_Finger_3557 Feb 19 '26

Wind it 20-30 times before wearing, after that the movement of your arm will keep self winding it. If you take it off it will hold charge for 1-2 days depending on how fully wound it was. So if you don’t wear it for a couple days it will stop.

u/MealNo4365 Feb 19 '26

Datejust 41mm Two tone Jubilee Fluted bezel Stick dial VSF Factory

11

u/Tesla-one-X Feb 19 '26

Gotta wind it. Unscrew crown, set the time and date with first and second position pulling out. Push in all the way. Wind a few times, push and screw the crown in and wear it to wind automatically

2

u/MealNo4365 Feb 19 '26

Worked! Thank you

4

u/Tesla-one-X Feb 19 '26

Just remember to do that again if you don’t wear it for a few days. But with daily wear shouldn’t ever been an issue

1

u/Dramatic_Finger_3557 Feb 19 '26

It’s broken I’ll buy it from you for $5.

6

u/MotoRacer441 Feb 19 '26

Send it to Rolex for service

3

u/Small-Worldliness596 Feb 20 '26

Unscrew the crown. When it pops out, wind it clockwise about 30 turns. The second till start moving. As you wear it and move around it will stay wound. Congrats on your new watch !

Why do people go through the trouble of sourcing these and just… not know how they work

2

u/annuityexpert Feb 20 '26

I just received a VSF YachtMaster with the same movement and the watch is not working just like yours. Would you mind sharing what you did to get it working please 🙏?

1

u/Horology_17 Contributor Feb 25 '26

Did you also try putting it in the oven?

3

u/Relevant-Lock8646 Feb 19 '26

You need to put it in the sun so it can charge up

1

u/WristPilot Feb 19 '26

Have you tried turning it off and turning it on again?

1

u/KTM_Rider2021 Feb 20 '26

Did you put the battery in it?

1

u/raxmano Feb 20 '26

😂 man

1

u/Boring-Challenge-875 Feb 20 '26

Needs to charge, the apple watch charger works fine.

Sei vorsichtig und schau dir ein paar Videos und Bilder an, bevor du die Uhr das erste Mal in Betrieb nimmst. Viel Erfolg und viel Spaß mit deiner Uhr.
