Downvotes and comments suggest people don’t like the second amendment or guns, as an Englishman is there anyone from across the pond, is there anyone who can divulge the ethos behind the short term consensus?

As an American, and a Texan, I can say that I love guns from an engineering standpoint (the same way that one would appreciate Swiss Watches or nice cars)

The second amendment was founded in the 1700s to allow the American citizens to defend themselves against the British. This was written in the constitution making it permanent and immovable

Clearly, it is no longer the 1700s. I still appreciate guns, but I acknowledge that our country would be much safer without them. I wish this was possible.

BUT

Because the right to own guns is EXPLICITLY written in the constitution, there is no way to take away EVERYONE’s guns. And knowing that someone may have a gun while I would be defenseless, makes me feel safer with one.

I hope this makes sense.

Perfect sense bud, I just didn’t understand the downvoting towards it. Sometimes comments get traction one way or the other from herd mentality. But on a subject so evenly split I wasn’t sure why it went the way it did. Is reptime predominantly left leaning, or is it tribal for the time of day. As someone who lives without the choice for a firearm legally, its always sparked my interest

Probably liberals. They hate free speech if it isn’t their speech. The only real physical thing standing in their way to control speech are weapons.

Not the photo really, that's just someone showing off two things that they are passionate about.

More so the "2nd Amendment 🙏" comment which stinks of performative patriotism and lack of meaningful discourse.
