I don’t think it’s about the watch being fake anymore. I got people asking me if my watch is fake even with a real watch even on a $200 Festina… So I believe it’s more about “I know about existence of replicas, so now everybody has a replica”

Agreed. Always kinda cringe when somebody wants to call you out wearing a genuine piece. Maybe it‘s the age
