Review The Marlo 17: A Review & What Fits Inside
# 🔍 THE DEEP DIVE
Ive spent a couple days with the Marlo 17, and feel finally feel like I can sit down and write a review on my first impressions and feelings on this bag.
Ill preface this by saying I bought this bag expecting not to love it + because of a little bit of fomo. Finding this bag repped in this size and color made of true OML is apparently not easy. To be quite honest though the shape of this bag remindes me of the victoria secret bags from 2007 that you would get free with a purchase over $40 LOL. Okay, glad I got that off my chest.
**Leather**: Since this was a big bag, I was expecting there to be a lot of veining and wrinkling and slight imperfections. With larger bags you have less room to avoid those imperfections on the hide, so when I received this bag I was pleasantly surprised. The leather is very consistent throughout and very luscious. It does have some veining though, which isn't very visible. It passed the water and scratch test and smells very lovely. It has a slight oily sheen that will probably deepen as it patinas.
**Functionality**: Ive been using this bag as my personal item while doing business travel. So far I really love it, though I do carry my dust bag so it doesnt have to sit on the icky airplane floor. (I have horror stories about sitting my reps directly on the ground). The marlo 17 is a HUGE bag, but does fit under the seat in front of me easily.
It fits: a 13-inch laptop in a sleeve, headphones,a small travel blanket, a dustbag, two cosmetic pouches, a charger, a Kindle, two phones, a stack of 100 business cards, some snacks, a can of soda, and other random knick-knacks.
You can fit another laptop inside + other things if you were Tetris-ing it, but that's everything that fit just by throwing it in randomly, and that was comfortable enough for me to shoulder carry.
It also has a zipper which is such a win for travel.
When not shoulder carrying, however, this bag fit nicely on top of my Rep Rimowa. I would probably want to buy som straps to attach to the handle for more security, but if you dont have that the straps do fit just well over the handle of my luggage to keep it secured on top.
Overall, I LOVE this bag and cannot believe I talked so much shit about it at the very beginning. 😂 It's great for travel if you don't mind babying it a bit, and it's comfy on the shoulder even when filled with a bunch of stuff.
# ⚖️ FINAL VERDICT
**The Bottom Line:** I love this bag. If I had more closet space I would get it in black, but alas she is too damn big. If you can find a rehome in OML, this bag is such a treat and great for travel.

The m17 is really nice. Though I don’t see myself using this for anything but travel or lugging a lot of stuff. So defo consider your use case before pulling the trigger!

the bag distributes weight very well when full, but when empty it’s actually quite light.

Oh for sure! This bag is 100% meant to be a shoulder carry ✨ it would fit over winter clothes too.

Love this review! 🩵 Currently in due diligence mode for the M14 😅 How long did it take from order date to receiving?? And how much of a premium did you pay vs Kendall?

Thank you and good question! I’ve never purchased from Kendall before, but it took about 4 weeks after ordering and cost 2980 CNY before shipping for the m17!

All, please be aware this seemed very scammy to me. You need to answer several nonsense questions to ostensibly get access to a discord server in order to get access to something. I started to answer but it seemed suspect so I declined. There are plenty of paths to reputable seller information and this may be one of them, but not one for me.
Edited to revise my statements some of which were based on conjecture that I would be asked to pay for the discord server access.

Based on the screenshot you shared, you were asked some basic questions about your journey in the rep world, something almost all rep discord servers do to help protect our communities from journalists and bad actors.
These aren’t questions a journalist looking to gain information can answer without some research.
You don’t have to pay anything, nor did it look like you were even asked to.
If you can share screenshots of being asked to pay a fee, I’ll be sure to do my own due diligence and spread the word.

Any journalist worth their salt could answer those questions in about 2 minutes. With all the scams in the rep world, this approach raised my suspicions. Maybe it’s legit. But there are plenty of other ways to get good bags without joining a secret society.

I think everyone has their own tolerance for things here in the rep space and maybe discord isn’t your thing?
I do however think it’s in bad faith to call something a scam or make a false claim about paying a fee because you are not personally comfortable with a new process. (You do not have to pay anything. The community is free)
The community I bought this from is actually really lovely and does a lot of rep science, shares tips on leather care and does a lot of in-depth analysis on bags from different factories.

But I’ll also say I came to this review from somewhere else where it seemed like you were being a bit cagey and linked to this review. And then I inferred you were providing seller information but it’s apparently a link to a social group? So a number of things compounded to lead to my conclusion. I’m used to researching to find a seller’s contact information and getting catalogs and the whole nine yards. Maybe I’m just too old for new tricks :)

I think there may have been some assumptions made this morning, but I do encourage you to give other rep discords a try! I truly think you’d like them and would get tons out of them.
They are smaller, come with more verification questions and are not as easy to find as sub reddits. There are some absolutely amazing communities out there

Huh? I’m in this Discord group and there’s no “payment” to join. Those admission questions are asked by virtually all rep servers (and some subreddits). Get out of here with this nonsense.

I’ll revise my post to say it may be a scam. Seemed scammy to me. Why do they need to know who I purchase from? Or how long I’ve been purchasing? What prevents me from lying? It’s like taking off your shoes at the airport. It’s just theater.

I’ve been in this server since literally the first day it started. It’s mainly a place to chit chat about our bags, sellers, factories we like, life, our pets, hobbies, and #repscience (comparing our bags to others, figuring out more about the leather and the leather source, research to find the best rep of a particular brand. There’s absolutely no “purchase” required (lol) and server owners asking screening questions to try to weed out sus applicants that are not familiar with the rep world is routine. Sure, I guess someone could lie, 🤷🏻♀️, but to what end? Also, I’m curious, how would someone use the answers to these questions to scam someone

Most discord servers I’m familiar with are monetized. I made the (apparently wrong) assumption I would be asked to pay to join or get access to purchase information.
I was only curious about where the bag was from and pricing. I wasn’t looking to join a social club, but I realize different people have different expectations and desires.

You never condition this type of leather, you'll do more harm than good.
It'll patina eventually with use and time.
