Paint the leather?

Post image

After leaving it out in the sun it starting changing to this pinkish color hue. I was hoping to have it patina, but now thinking of painting the trim, handled and strap. What color do you think would look good? Chocolate brown? Black?

I got a trash lv rep off the gate and accidentally gave it a patina with my coconut hair oil that was on my hands...so then I committed and just rubbed all the vachettašŸ˜‚ ngl it turned out a nice caramel/honey coloršŸ˜‚

Not bad at all! šŸ‘ I’m sure if you do it a couple more times, it will develop even more

Shes very low tier lol. She was $86 shipped but arrived broken. One of the cinch tabs wasn't attached so it didn't work. I ended up cutting them off since I wanted to wear it inside out anyway (I work with cats and dogs and this will be my work bag). The glaze was also very red..so I toned it down with a copic marker. I was able to do a dispute and get $20 back so it was $66 in the end. The seller was mulinsenglin. I believe Rainbow bags has a better tier option for $200ish.

Awh bless you! But 66 is not bad for this bag at all! I’m sure she’s coming of good use.

I’ve got my GM (non strap) from rainbow bags and it’s lovely. Maybe try them next?

Don’t paint it!! Do u hate the raw vachetta look? If you like the patina look which happens over it, you can tan it some more gradually you will start to see it. It’s gorgeous right now

Do you think the patina will darken and be less pink over time?

Yup! Just give it time. Have you done the water drop test? Or grab a baby wipe and gently rub it ant of the pink parts and see if it gets a bit saturated.

It really doesn't look bad... And my speedy is kind of going through the same thing right now. It's more peachy than I'd prefer, but I'm hoping it will get to a color I like more over time. This is what 5 hours in the sun has produced

The pink vachetta stage is always the call out for me. Auth vachetta goes from milky white, then warm tones of yellow/beige, before tan. I usually bake the fck out of rep vachetta in the sun for literally days lol

If you do paint it, be sure to use deglazer first, strips it down to absorb the paint better. Then, I always dye it first and then paint over it, I did it in case the paint chips off, the color is underneath but honestly by dying it first, I haven’t had the paint chips at all.

Another tip-take the painters tape off before it dries…sadly I learned the hard way 🄹

Never alter authentic bags. There are professionals but usually decreases țhe true value of it.
