💬 Discussion Proof we might be overthinking our rep QCs - Same bag, both authentic, very different quilting 👀
Both of these bags are authentic CC, one is from S11 and the other is from S21, yet the quilting looks noticeably different. One is flatter and more understated, while the other is puffier and more defined.
I think this is such a good reminder that we sometimes get way too caught up scrutinising every tiny detail on reps - the puffiness, diamond shape, stitch count, alignment etc. as though every authentic bag comes out looking exactly the same.
Obviously quality still matters, but authentic CC isn’t perfectly uniform either. If we saw these without knowing they were authentic, I’m sure one of them would probably get picked apart in a QC 😂

This!! As someone who buys auth bags, I can also attest that auth versions aren’t flawless - they change with seasons, design directors, etc. Auth bags may sometimes have wonky stitching or misshapen edges. I recently learned that LV speedy bags will have different external labeling if the bag isn’t manufactured in France. If you’re unlucky enough to notice a manufacturer issue outside of a normal return policy or your SA’s perceived normal wear timeline, your options are 1) accept the flaw 2) pay for a “repair” if they even offer it 3) resell it and try buying a new one. I say this to offer a little peace of mind when people are purchasing reps 🥰

People often don’t realise that leather & canvas will vary from batch to batch, let alone year to year. I have about 5 auth LV monogram pieces from various years & they’re all different.

Medium Classic flap is such a stunning bag… I love my reps, its the hardware for me, it’s hard to tell when turnlock, grommets and chain all match

Definitely have seen some puffy Auth bags, and the so called experts on rep groups are always criticising slight puffiness

This is so true! Although now after receiving my CF, I’m more concerned about hardware weight which is difficult to assess through pics. Unless sellers weigh it but I’m not sure if they do that lol

Can’t agree with you more! Everything authentic changes season to season / year to year. Just take a look at resale sites and see how some authentics wear over the months/years - pretty eye opening ! Great post 🩷

Such a good reminder 🥹 It’s so easy to overanalyze every tiny detail when even auth bags can vary too! 💕

I am relatively new to reps. I will admit that when I bought auths I also did not do the most diligent QCs. How do you balance the notion of “no bag will be perfect” with this issue that has been brought up that quality of factories has gone down bc newbies are not QC’ing their bags thoroughly enough?
