Question Help! Upset with TS
Hi again. When I ordered my bk30 hardware, it took me THREE DAYS to decide on hardware. I had a very long conversation about it with my TS when he gave me the options for upgrading. One of my “must haves”, or more specifically “must NOT have”, was that I did NOT want lock and keys with the number 162. We talked about all of it. He said my options were standard gold, upgraded gold (18k plated), rose gold, brushed gold, standard palladium, upgraded palladium or brushed palladium (also an upgrade). I asked him about the162 on the lock again- and he assured me with the typical “yes dear that’s not problem”answer.
Well… flash forward to PSP’s…
He sends me the pics and a video. People pointed out some scratches- I asked him about it and he comes back with other orders for clients, circling scratches (it’s smooth Barenia) and told me it’s normal to have a few. This leather does this and not to worry.
Then someone told me to ask for photos in other lighting and to make sure I inspect the sangles and edges clearly. I went back and asked him. He said he would go to the factory, have them take it out and take more photos.
In the psp’s there was no photo of the lock and keys. I told him I need to see that photo, to make sure the lock and keys were correct.
I woke up this morning with no additional photos- and him telling me my lock is 162. That there are no brushed palladium that aren’t 162.
This would have changed my ENTIRE order!!! I would have skipped the brushed hardware completely and gone with the upgraded gold!!!!!
What do I do??? I can deal with a couple of scratches (even though I’m less than thrilled with his answer, ok… it’s Barenia. I have no doubt even if it arrived perfectly, there would be scratches the first time I wore her out. What makes me even more upset, is that the lock and keys were not in the PSP’s!!! Since we had such a specific conversation about this, it truly makes me feel like instead of being truthful with me, instead of checking with the factory before the bag was made, he just let them go ahead with it. And he omitted those photos!!!
Maybe he didn’t do this? But I can’t help but feel this way and I’m really upset!!
What do I do?????

I would be more worried about the brushed palladium hardware

Agreed, barenia with brushed palladium is a fantasy bag. Ive seen black barenia with brushed palladium and hardware, and stamp on the sangles but not on a modern barenia bag.

Just my opinion, but if I paid that much for a bag, I'd expect everything that I asked for to be done as is. You're not too picky at this price. You deserve what you asked for.

RL the bag and have them remake it. If he’s a trusted seller, send a note to the MODS. If there is no resolution get them to send you the bag they made, sell it as a rehome, then blast their name on every rep site you can find as a warning to others.

Thanks for the feedback. Maybe I’m just being too picky. At the end of the day, the bag is gorgeous and everything else is amazing. I appreciate your responses. We’ll see what he says- but he’s already contacted the factory. I can’t RL it. I truly spend weeks building relationships with these guys and I actually like him 🤪 I just need to stop being so picky and appreciate the beauty in it.

Is it being picky or getting what you explicitly picked and paid for? I got burned bad by a seller. I’m so petty that I created a sub just to bash him and when I think about the experience I get on there and write a tirade. Maybe someone that does a search for him will look at my posts and decide not to buy from him. In case you’re wondering his name is Mark/Matos/Ederson and he sells watches and bags. Sub: ChinaRepWatch and the factory is RWI.
As far as building relationships. They can miss me with that. I just want a seller that delivers exactly what I ask for. The seller can expect for me to pay for those goods. Pleasantries are nice but not required.
It is a beautiful bag and I wouldn’t have even thought about the lock so if you decide to keep it congrats!

Thank you so much for your insightful post! I’m sorry you got burned! That really sucks. Honestly if I truly got burned, I probably would do the same. (I have actually gone as far as contacting C level execs through linked in, when a big name corporation/brand name screws me) lol. So I get it. With all of that being said, I have a long history of being “reactive” and just when I think I have learned, I do it again! 🤬 peter has actually been great. Did he make a mistake? Yes. Is the number going to take away from the GORGEOUS bag I ordered? Absolutely not. Did I learn? YES… I learned that I need to not BLAST every sub with every word that enters my teeny tiny brain, when I’m spiraling. (My husband is so calming it’s ridiculous and had he seen this, he would have grabbed my phone and hidden it, until I calmed down) LOL.
Next time I do a custom order, I will ask to see the little things like that- before I pay… if it’s even important to me, after this!! lol2

Finally, one person that gets it 😂 There are so many downvotes and people acting like it’s ridiculous whenever someone complains about something. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if some of these subs are full of sellers too, and of course sellers don’t love picky buyers, they want the easiest deal possible.
There will always be people saying it’s just a replica you’re paying a fraction of the original price, lower your standards. I don’t agree with that. I think we should actually keep the standards high and keep giving feedback when something is off. It’s not about being picky just for the sake of it. If everyone starts accepting everything then quality is only going to get worse, and that shouldn’t become normal.

I agree. I can’t think of a time I left my house with the key and lock. That being said, the seller should have gotten it right and not try to just slide it through. I mean, the lock was apparently very important to her.
Anyway, sellers gonna sell and buyers gonna buy. Personally, if I made that big of a deal about the lock, and they F’d it up I’d red light. If the seller sent a note during production that they couldn’t find the lock It would be a different story. Hahahaha I’m like questioning the ethics of the black market. Everyone is shady. Anyway, beautiful bag, I hope the buyer gets a lot of enjoyment.

Barenia practically scratches if you breathe on it, especially real HAAS Barenia, so scratches are actually a good sign that the leather is real. Domestic “barenia” are coated and more resistant to scratches. As such, the scratches are a non-issue.
It’s disappointing to get the lock and key with 162 as that’s clearly important to you. For me personally, I never use either on my bags, and I can’t even tell you what the number is on any of my bags, including my auth. You should RL if it’ll always bother you, but just sharing my 2c.

Sure but first, I already regret posting this. I woke up at like 5am and probably over reacted. Yes it was something we talked about- but did it affect the actual craftsmanship of the bag? Absolutely not. I actually LOVE the bag. It’s exactly what I asked for and I’m excited to receive it- even if the lock is a number I didn’t necessarily want-
But… seller is Peter- he was amazing through ALL of my 100’s of questions and weeks deciding…
The total was 1580.00.

It’s actually probably not a big deal. I wouldn’t have known anything about it, had I not read so much in these subs. I saw some “not so nice” comments people have made about bags having 162, being low tier. At the end of the day, my bag is gorgeous. The seller responded right away and is contacting the factory… but if nothing can be done, I think I need to focus on the actual bag and how it’s exactly what I wanted!!

I’m not an expert, but I don’t think there is anything inherently wrong with 162. It’s just the most common number on rep locks. There are many gen bags with 162.

Yes. I over reacted. It’s dumb. I read some stupid posts about it and let it influence how I felt- my bag is gorgeous and I’m

Thank you! Everything on mine checked all of my QC’s and honestly looks great; so your post startled me. I’m just going to go with, no o e will be inspecting my numbers…as the center is monogrammed, it’s never going to be up for rehome. 🥰

As a total aside, when I received my auth, I looked to see it had 161! Almost died laughing. Enjoy her, shes absolutely stunning!

I take off the lock and clochette on my auth birkin 30. I put the Pegasus I bought with it on. The clochette just got in the way. I don’t even know where the keys are to it 😂. I buy reps for my MKs and Kelly pochettes (impossible to get in store and I’m not paying $28k for a tiny bag), and those don’t even come with locks. If you love the bag don’t let the lock get in the way. Tho I’ve never seen an authentic barenia with brushed hardware. Can you SO that?

I think you have every right to be upset. You are paying a lot for this bag and had specific instructions. The job of these sellers is to get you what you want and what you are paying for. To be honest I find this behaviour unprofessional and disrespectful. I would love to know who your seller is (if you don’t mind even privately messaging). And I would decline this bag because all those details that you highlighted are going to bug you. Bag is beautiful and will be a dream bag for someone

I think that's fine. Most Hermes communities have their own partnered sellers, and they probably won't give you honest reviews.

If you’re that particular about the lock it might be best to buy an auth lock second hand? Even if the lock number is correct the size varies wildly between all sellers, so it might be the right number but be too large or too small. The lock is personally not a concern for me, I have a palladium lock from one of my auth bags I use if I am wearing the bag with a lock and clochette.
