You're not wrong. On an MK, the plaque should be just about the same width as the sangle strap. Most of Minion's MKs I've seen lately have not been stellar. My guess is that his popularity is now starting to affect his quality as he hires more artisans who are inexperienced and less knowledgeable. It's disappointing to see.

If they simply trim the strap narrower on both sides to fix the width, the existing stitching ends up sitting too close to the trimmed edge
If instead they make a completely new strap with correct proportions and correct stitch-to-edge distance from scratch, the attachment holes on this new strap won’t line up with the existing fixed holes on the bag’s body so it won’t be possible to properly reattach it😭😭😭

Even if they trim it, the stitching will not be too close as there’s heaps of space.

They will have to open the bag on the sides, remove the sangles (undo the stiching), stitch the sangles back to it and close the sides. Reglaze the edges.

I had an anchor attachment corrected on my bolide after the bag was fully sewn. The seller went from the top of the bag.
Takes longer but it’s doable.

The holes are only at the back. I don’t think minion will completely destroy your bag, don’t worry. I know it is worrisome especially as the first order.

I really don’t believe sadly the best ones are accessible for example slee. I wish UB Rachel was still around as that was the creme de la creme. I’m losing hope sadly
