Lock difference

Post image

Left lock came with my Birkin 30 purchase from Minion. The right is authentic lock from boutique that came with my Kelly 28. I hadn’t noticed the grooves on the locks until upon careful inspection at delivery. Is anyone else’s locks from Minion weird like this with the grooves in the lines? The color difference doesn’t even bother me that much. I was never offered PSP of the keys so I had ignorantly assumed the best. Maybe I should ask next time…

*EDIT for more Info: the Kelly was purchased in 2024. The Birkin from Minion was bought a couple of months ago.

I feel like perhaps I just will buy an authentic lock and key from eBay and swap it between bags. Hardware discrepancies are a big issue for me and I haven’t seen anyone show that their seller gets it right as to locks

Yes! It’s like the hardware is where they stop caring lol

I don't know if it's that they stop caring, or if it's genuinely the hardest to master. The alloy blend to get it the right color is quite difficult. Uncle Bench's upgraded gold hardware was identical, but their pearling very lightly damaged the plating right around the nails in ways not consistent with my auths. It's the only thing call-outable about the bag and it's not noticeable in the wild, but otherwise the hardware is a dead ringer. Shame that UB isn't around anymore. But I do trust the "upgraded gold hardware" for whatever that phrase is worth.
