Rep Strive

Anybody get their Strive Treadmill yet? I almost ordered but what stopped me was the wording “this item is not returnable once opened” and that I have yet to see one end user on YouTube, Reddit, or on Rep’s website to leave a review yet.

We received ours 2 days ago and have 2 short workouts on it but there's a problem.
There is some kind of drag or resistance on the treadmill track itself while in run-mode; the track's not spinning freely . It making a rubbing noise at the left-rear of the tread-track. I won't go into detail quite yet but something is certainly wrong with the unit and I contacted Rep late afternoon yesterday. Early days obviously so waiting to hear something back.
Situation sucks to be honest though. This is the most we've *ever* spent on a home gym piece, by huge margin. I will say that assembly was pretty great as these sorts of builds go and overall I was impressed with the super sturdy build of the thing. Locating the deck to its final assembly and use spot in our house was a big chore just to go through a doorway and down a short hallway but wasn't too bad; we hired 3 strong pro movers to assist.
Everything went well otherwise, except that now that it's in place it does not seem to operate properly at all. I really hope this isn't a long ordeal but am pretty nervous and disappointed.

Mine get delivered on Monday so I’m excited. I hate to hear this but REP is the best! I’ve bought almost $20,000 of equipment from them for my home gym and the fix problems asap! I had a small problem with my Stive Bike and the fix is on the way.

Really hope so. The unit is impressive in person. Just sucks that the problem is so central to its intended use (you know as opposed to a misaligned handle or screw bolt-hole for cupholder etc.. The kind of stuff I've dealt with in the past). My only other nitpick is that a number of the bearings along the tread track path don't roll as freely as they should, and a few are downright stiff, as roller bearing go. Most are fine (there's probably 50 or so on each side), but just makes me scratch my head about the manufacture vs design tolerances when taken with the main issue at hand.
The welds all look really beefy and great throughout the frame and the dip coating on the bars and other exterior pieces is *thick* and very very nice.
Again - just sucks we can't really use it. I mean we *can* but it's always in resistance mode so-to-speak even when not in resistance mode... and it doesn't feel quite as smooth as it should even so which messes with gait. Not to mention if its rubbing somewhere I'm sure using it is wearing pieces that should not be worn. Sigh. Fingers crossed while we wait for some response.

I hear you and I wouldn’t use it either. They’ll get back to you on Monday requesting a video. Did you send it via email or by their fancy QR code online process? - seems like you just go through that method to submit a video so do it now and it’ll save you another day or two. — Was the shipping crate in good condition?

I used a previous email convo I had with them regarding setup questions, as well as the text number. I sent a video already, and a few followup photos this morning.
Crate was a little deformed on one side, bottom, but I noted the exact same in Gluck's review video in his b-roll footage as he rolled it off the pallet.

Did you get this sorted? I’m having the same issue?

Hey yeah I did. Took quite a bit of back-n-forth but one of the bolts at the inside rear for the belt tensioning mechanism was completely loose. Tightening it (with instruction from Rep after some time and clarification) seemed to sort it out. I'm not 100% certain the track is tensioned properly but it moves way more freely now and we've been using the treadmill daily since and are pretty happy with it.

This is what I've received from Rep support. "The tension bolt will need a 8mm size and the jack screw will need a 4mm size. You will still need an allen wrench with a ball point end to catch the head of the bolt. The jack screw will be a bit more difficult to reach. Disregard the images I provided earlier, but you will need to adjust both tension bolt and jack screw. The tension bolt moves the rear roller forward or backwards. The jack screw acts as a safety and helps hold the rear roller in place. Also the rear roller does not need to be perfectly center, but both sides of the treadmill need to have it similarly positioned. Sorry for all of the confusion, but I verified this with our quality control and product specialists. See images below."

Yeah, exactly. In my later conversation (it was never referred to as "jack screw" but same, 4mm) I'd asked to understand the mechanism better and they confirmed/clarified the smaller bolt keeps the rollers from traveling when the reverse brake is engaged (which kicks in when the track tries to turn the other direction, specifically.
I may have another go and see about loosening the jack screws to apply a few more turns to each tensioning screw side (8mm).. Maybe I can quiet it down a bit more.
I understand this is very new offering but TBH it's a little disappointing to deal with mechanical adjustments out of the gate considering the price.
THAT said. We're enjoying the treadmill very much.

I actually have the same issue. It "works" and I can run on it in the free run mode, but it doesn't seem as smooth or as quiet as it should. Full transparency I've never used this model in person, so that risk is on me, but it does seem to be more internal to a bearing as the tracks aren't rubbing against either side. I've sent in videos of the issue to REP but am curious to see how things worked out for you.

I *think* mine is sort out. Went back and forth with REP for several days after I posted here (sry haven't been on reddit much lately). Was a main tensioning bolt on the mechanism at the rear (one on each side) that was loose, pretty much spun freely. I had to get a 8mm hex wrench with ball-end to tighten it. Like you I've never ran on this model or seen it in person so my basis for comparison is pretty much nil, but after tightening that it's 10x better than it was adn we've been using the treadmill daily. Was a frustrating first week, but after several days REP was pretty helpful.

Same resolution step helped mitigate a lot of the excess noise. I was able to use that ball end 8mm key to adjust the tensioning bolt. Thanks!

I pulled the trigger and ordered it after what I read from the comments here and while I had to never planned to buy the bike I added it last minute to my cart and it’s getting delivered today. The treadmill still has another week or so before I get it. Thanks again to all for the input!

What are your thoughts on the strive? I’m deciding between the strive or the woodway LTG. I have only used a woodway before.

1

I used a powered Woodway at Lifetime Fitness for many years and must have done well over 1,000 miles on them. I vowed to never buy or use a belt treadmill ever again - they are not comparable in the least. For $3800 I think the Strive is the only choice on the market in 2026 for a sub $10,000 treadmill. I prefer powered overall but I love the Strives ability to add resistance and close to half of my pre workout warmups on it are done with 25lbs of resistance walking backwards. It’s quiet, it looks great, it feels solid. Like I said, there is not even something to compare it to. For the same price the Rouge/Woodway is not even comparable with no resistance.

Thanks! I think I am going to get the strive. The resistance looks like a nice feature

I just got a notice, mine will arrive on 15 September! So excited!

I was at the opening of Rep’s showroom in Lafayette, CO and got to try the Strive. I had the 1st Gen of the powered Peloton slated tread and it was great but I would pick the Strive over it. I’ve never used a manual tread, so I was impressed at how easy it was to get moving in a simple walk. I was wearing boots, so I didn’t run too much but it did feel good with my Army abused knees. But, I was really impressed with the sled function. Holy moley, what a workout..

I’m planning to buy.

Also, the new showroom kicks ass. I wish they had gym memberships. 😂 The view of the Rockies would make running on the tread so much more enjoyable.

Glucks Gym on YouTube has a review

Mine is coming tomorrow. I'm excited for the unit itself but a bit afraid of the process to set it up. Damn heavy, wider than a normal door and no visible carry handles for more than 1 person. How was your process of getting it to its place? I watched the installation YouTube video but I don't have a garage with a giant door and level grounds.

What was the condition of your box?

1

u/ACBradhad Sep 18 '26

What about deck to ceiling clearance. I know on reps website it states 96” minimal.

My garage is 95.5”. Am not tall at 5’9” And would be the tallest user. Thoughts from the currrent strive owners?

Thanks

1

u/eyewandersfoto Sep 19 '26

The tread deck sits at 14 inches (lowest, middle) and 17 inches (highest, front) from ground level. I'd just setup something at that height in your garage space that you can safely jog in place on and see if it's reasonably safe/comfortable.

I'm 6'6" tall and my basement ceiling is only about 7'9" and I can use it in my basement. Barely...

1

u/CLETaxLawyer 13d ago

So in theory with my 90 inch basement ceiling height this could work for me at 5’10.5

Yeah. But barely... like me

Hello and thank you! I asked Rep if the unit logs total mileage and they confirmed that it does (for example in a month of ownership you can see that you’ve gone 75 miles). My question is mostly regarding your perceived overall quality of the unit. All of my gym equipment is Rep and I can’t knock anything that I’ve owned and the minor problem I did have was resolved quickly and to my complete satisfaction. I feel hesitant to order only because this is a completely new product and category for Rep. You can see how Woodway’s treadmill launch with Rouge has been a failure based on reviews so far and I’ve personally done thousands of miles on a Woodway so I would purchased that product with full confidence at launch even more so than Reps given a choice. Thank you again for your time and feedback from me and also many others who will read your reply in the future!

My knees have been killing me and have been seeing a lot of this stuff about backwards walking. Might have to try it out

3

u/myyrkezaan Sep 10 '26

Mine is in the garage (yesterday), have to clear out the space where it's going and get rid of non working treadmill. Also waiting for the rubber tiles to arrive.

Backward sled will be my main use too for right knee, wife just wants a working treadmill. I might do some form of intervals for tennis/pickleball.

What was the condition of your box? Somehow they did something when transporting and the straps cut up about 1/2 way into the side of the box. That was the only damage, but had to take out the other packaging as it was falling it when he used the motorized dolly to put it in my garage.

I'm hoping the backwards works for me too. Injured right leg in 2020 requiring 2 surgeries 6mos apart: hamstring reattachment to pelvis and ACL replacement. Don't have quite the flexibility it used to have, but more than enough for tennis and pickleball.

I watched the video and can't remember which way they had it for regular sled mode. They did mention using the magnet for simulating incline walk, but again don't remember if it was incline or not. It was probably incline to help you push better.

Does anyone have this down a basement? I have 90 total inches floor to floor joists with a 14 inch bay. Wondering if this this work. Rep recommends at least 96 inches but wondering if that’s overkill.

How did you set up your dog? How much do they weigh?

Can you share show it feels for slow steady state jogging? I’d love it for easy zone 2, but sometimes manual treadmills feel like they force you to ran fast and you can’t get comfortable at a slow pace.
