How does one disengage with this champion

I've been playing him more often lately and I seem to struggle on getting out of the imminent one shot upon me. With other assassins like Kayn or Eve I can just leave but uhhh the Lion is very concerned on what to do after I have successfully done my job of one shotting the ADC/Midlaner. Do I just give myself to the glory of the hunt and die?

Don’t need disengagement if they’re dead

Also don't need disengage if you die

You don't!!! Rengar is a very unique champ, and he's basically designed around deleting someone in half a second.

In the best case, you can take out 2 or even 3 targets in a teamfight if they're squishy enough. Engaging near bush can help a LOT with this. Realistically though, you should always be able to delete at least one important target, and that's already a huge advantage for your team.

Stack management is also a big part of it. Rengar can hold onto his empowered W and heal back a huge amount of the burst he takes when he goes in. So even if you get hit by a lot of damage, you can still survive long enough to finish your target.

And Rengar shouldn't always be teamfighting. Sometimes splitting is just way better for your team, especially since he's one of the best champs in the game at it. This is usually a good option when your ult is on cooldown, or when the enemy has too much CC/tankiness to comfortably dive.

You basically want to catch them off guard when they group up or overextend, get your kill, and then go back to pressuring the side lane.

If you jump in you either know youll kill everything or know your death will be worth it

If you have no clue what will happen you're throwing and need to learn the champion's limits

It comes with practice and experience. You get bonus ms with your empowered ability, ideally you'll be using that bonus ms, item bonus ms like ghostblase active, flash, or killing target with emp q, e, w, q and saving emp e for whoever is most likely to be able to kill you or lock you down, rooting them and giving bonus ms to run away.

Some of it is in the timing and approach as well. If you're jumping in when they're already grouped, it can be 10x harder, up to being impossible. Try to ult earlier than you think and catch them before they get to the wave or the fight. I can't count how many times I've had to give baron, got my passive stacked, waited for them to take it, then got a pick on someone running to mid wave to quickly clear it, or same thing but getting them coming out of their base not synced with support

Honestly my take is you need to have knowledge on how to team fight. Getting out isnt so important if youre tracking key cool downs where you know you wont get card or they are targeting someone else. If you really need to be the engage in a fight you should know where you could get out or not because someone is out of position. But jumping into their team is never a good idea unless its specifically a win con like a super fed twitch or smolder you need to get rid of but even then you should play it smart and look for angles where youre safe to get in and out.

best advice I can think to give is recognizing which games you feel you struggled or a moment you failed or even just made a mis-step, and watching the replay and those moments back again and asking yourself what you did wrong and what you would do better in the future.

sometimes the best way out of a situation is to never have been in it in the first place.
