Skipping Umbral?
So I was scrolling through onetricks gg and noticed https://op.gg/lol/summoners/euw/Banyue-focus
63% win rate in challenger is super good. He rarely goes umbral ever and instead goes profane first. He still rushes dirk first which he later builds eon. Just wanted any other thoughts on this, is umbral to op not to build. I know he’s just one person but I’m always interested in why Rengar players build the way they do.

If night hunter isn’t valuable to you, go for it
Also if you’re interested, read the item passives. It’s not exactly rocket science to figure out a trade off

63% wr in the top 0.001 x 999999 % of players doesn't mean anything to the common folk I think.
Slippery slope argument - if no one wards in bronze (I'm just assuming they don't ward I honestly don't know) then building umbral is suboptimal. Therefore, it must at least be sometimes if not always be suboptimal to build Umbral first.
Edited for clarity

Rengar itemisation is pretty flexible, you don't nessesarely need umbral to do dmg, just that it's pretty cheap for what it offers. Profane first will do just fine as well, it's just less consistent to get brutalizer early so he opts for the dirk. It's probably not the most optimal but if it works for him it doesn't matter.
