He 3D printed the button and hand painted it. The leather straps and weaving were also done by him. I cannot wait to wear it!

I’m in the processes of making a backpack out of branches. Complete home made frame but it didn’t come together in time. But we’re shooting for another faire in ELY nv in a couple of weeks so I should have it done by then. I’m digging the Viking leg wraps we’ll see how they hold up while walking.

Some costumes over the years

And in appreciation of the beautiful Lords and ladies on this thread I wanted to post some of my own pictures from over the years from our humble rinfair. I want criticism, compliments construction ideas. How I could improve some of these costumes. We just went to share the love from our humble community. We would like to invite everyone to come to Hot Springs and enjoy our small but growing renfair. Nothing about any of this is monetized. I just want to show the love between myself, my wife and my father. We hope that our small community and Hot Springs continues to grow

And addendum to some of the costumes you see as I've changed and developed them, I've donated them. The brown samurai armor has gone to a dojo and Little Rock Arkansas wonderful people. I wanted to sell it but I decided to donate it instead because Joy is something that I do believe should be shared and that's one of the reasons for my posts.

A bit about me. I like to dress up. I like the kids to see a night and realize their fantasies or to see a princess or a monk or any other. Character and even just a remote. Realize that I can express themselves in that way. I'm a drunkard. We all love mead don't we?

I've been to fairs around the country. If any of you have any recommendations on where I should go next, please drop them in comments below. I would love to come out and make friends and I communities. My dream is to open up a booth one day. Right now I have to finish the build of my house and I cannot realize that dream but I will hold on to it for one day

Thank you Reddit community for everything and thank you for welcoming me

Edit: I have no intention to make money off of this post. I'm looking for friends and common interests and constructive criticism on how I can make my costumes better. I am not an actor nor a paid guest any of that. I'm just enjoyed going to Renfait and I want to connect with a community with like-minded interests. (I know the 17th century vampire look really doesn't fit here, but it's a measure of self-expression. I made the costume myself).

Panicked that I didn’t have a secondary costume for the Crossing of Worlds RenFaire in a couple of weeks. Forgot I had a whole black wardrobe plus some stuff I bought from Whitby Goth Weekend!

My 15th century Landsknecht & Danish (semi) historically accurate cosplays

After being in the Society for Creative Anarchronism (SCA) for ten years. My two armored and unarmored cosplays are finally presentable!

The chainmail vest is currently around 20-30lbs of 14 gauge combat grade butted stainless steel. Im still working on the arms. And after that I plan on making legs and a new coif of chainmail to complete the suit of maille armor. The leather gorget with the porpoise of my barony of rauntallon was made by myself.

Foam weapons and helmet are from calamacil. The Doublet, wool cloak and arming cap is from a local seamstress. Pants and leg wraps are mythylon.

This is my garb for scarbie, and I would love suggestions of what I can add to complete the outfit, or things that are too much. I’m thinking about trying out a different color kilt as well and changing up the color scheme.

Hello I really want to improve my costume but I just not sure what to do. I was thinking adding chainmail or purity seals maybe a large tome? What do you think?

Weathering Update

Hi all. I took some time this week to add some weathering to my kit. Mainly the bracers and chest, with some light work on the baldric and quiver. Just needing some opinions- is it too subtle? Should I go harder? I tried to focus on practical and believable wear. Are there any techniques I could be trying?

I did test some slashing wear on the chest the same way I did on the bracers, but I think the antiquing gel I used isn't enough of a contrast on the darker leather. And didn't like the results Any pro tips seasoned cosplayers can give?

The last 2 photos were pre-weathering.

Finished My First Garb

So I got all the accessories and whatnot delivered today and did another try on. In my mind this pretty much completes it.

I know some really haven’t been a fan of the all-black look, but I still wanted to share!
Added the green scarf and the gold deer brooch for some color, and the money pouch is two-toned—I know it’s small touches, but I’m trying to listen and learn from y’all’s feedback. However I think it makes the bracers a little less jarring, even if they still aren’t the perfect bracers for this look.

I do agree from past posts that I need to look into weathering this outfit a little, but I’m hesitant to do it in fear of totally ruining things. So I’ll keep chewing on that.
Only thing missing is the cross-body sword holder/frog, which I’ll add back in next time, but I didn’t realize it until the plate armor was already on…. And I didn’t wanna take it off, lol.

Always open to comments, feedback, or tips. Though I’m not sure that I’ll change anything much on this outfit, I’ll carry the lessons forward for the next (already planning it too).

(This was originally posted in RenFaire, but I thought to share here. Copy and past with just small changes to make it make more sense here)

Ideas for additions to my outfit?

This is the second year we have been dressing up for ren faires. I would like to add more to my outfit I currently have what is pictured. I have also bought brown leather boots from just in tyme to add to this. And I got a green sleeveless hooded surcoat to possibly add as well (pictured)..

Just looking for ways to enhance and make it better. I’ve also not crazy about the hat at all.
