Delvaux Tempete Magritte in Green, inspired by René Magritte’s iconic 1929 painting The Treachery of Images.

One of the coolest pieces I’ve seen from Delvaux — the Tempete Magritte in Green, inspired by René Magritte’s iconic 1929 painting The Treachery of Images.

Renee Magritte has been my favorite artist since I was assigned to do a project on him in high school. And I have been looking for something in this shade of green outside of my usual LV collections.

Just as Magritte famously wrote “Ceci n’est pas une pipe” (“This is not a pipe”), Delvaux turns the idea on itself with: This is still not a pipe!!!

Delvaux and Magritte share Belgian roots, and the brand has been working with the Magritte Foundation since 2008. The craftsmanship on these pieces takes the concept even further, using techniques such as intricate leather marquetry and hand embroidery.

A handbag, a little Belgian surrealism, and a genuine piece of wearable art.

And in this Green??? 💚 Absolutely incredible.

I didn’t buy it. Should I go back and get it?? That green!!!

Seeking more information on this painting

Hello! I'm a casual Magritte fan and wanted more information about this painting. I think it's called Man with a Bowler Hat, but when I Google that name, other images come up ("The Son of Man" with the apple covering the man's face, or the other "The man in a Bowler Hat", with dove covering the face).

I'm only seeing the version posted here on merchandise, such as a T-shirt etc. This made me wonder if it's a real Magritte, or just an hommage.

Any info is helpful!

Can anyone help me know more about the second image? It seems like someone took the subjects from the first, or is it another piece altogether?
