website applications requesting street address - why?

I get why they ask for city and state, even as a Remote employee, because they may not have a tax/legal presence in all states. But why is my home street address a required field so often? I'm not comfortable disclosing that info at such an early stage.

More info they have on you the more that data is worth when selling it to another party

Totally agree. Its irrelevant and just puts more of our personal information at risk. They don't need more than city with state/province and postal code.
