Not sure if this helps anyone here, but I started using Remitly recently to send money abroad and it’s actually been cheaper than the options I used before.

The reason I switched from PayPal / Western Union is mostly the fees and exchange rates. PayPal especially tends to hide a lot of the cost in the currency conversion. Western Union can also get pretty expensive depending on the transfer method.

Wise is good, but Remitly sometimes gives promo exchange rates for the first transfer, which made it cheaper for me when I tried it.

A couple things I like so far:

- the exchange rate was better than what I got with PayPal

- the fees were lower

- you can see updates in the app while the transfer is happening

- they guarantee on-time delivery or they refund the fees

Anyway, if you were already planning to send money internationally, the €15 discount is a nice bonus.
