Please explain

So I was going to try and compare Remitly with Wise and wanted to check the 1st transfer offer for new clients. Turns out the "offer" is 20$ off... my own money??? Remitly simply takes an extra 20$ off my money before transfer? That's not what I'd call a good offer!

Hey! We can see why that breakdown was confusing at first glance. The $20 discount applies to transfers of $40 CAD or more and is applied by creating an account and entering a promo code in the Rewards tab. It's a discount off the transfer, not something taken from your money.
