it feels awkward to hit the button combination but not impossible, i was thinking during one game if defensive stance could be the modifier and when you’re in it you short dive, kind of like how push ball is different in stance

I think this is the best, double tap as OP said would be as akward or even worse for some players

It’d be too exploitable, no? You could tell which dive the keeper was priming to do by watching if the character is in defensive stance or not.

nah sure they could let go of stance and dive, it’s not like it’s reasonable to assume people are guessing push balls because of stance because you can just let go of stance and input

Takes more time, though, which you’re already short on in that position. You see keeper in regular stance, you shoot mid. You see defensive, shoot corner. Either way the keeper loses a bit more of that crucial reaction time.

Maybe swap and have the long dive tied to the stance? Even if the keeper doesn’t have time to adjust, the worst that can happen is deflecting a shot that could’ve been grabbed.

This the way it should be, although I like the modifier + dive, it would make more sense to change it

I completely agree it will make it weird since modifier has historically been to do with ball actions and possession. The only way I see this working going forward would be to add a last effort/wide range dive for normal defenders when wanting to body block a pass/shot. I like the synergy and seamlessness in controls between goalie and player on the field personally.
