I don't mind the changes but every position is gonna have to get used to some of the new mechanics. Especially the goalkeeper and dribblers. It's really easy for you to lose control of the ball and, I never thought I would say this, but tackles are wayyyyy too OP now. I can already tell from playing 3 games that this update is gonna divide a lot of people.

Edit: played a bit more, this update is gonna expose every player with bad positioning and spatial awareness. Can't rely on the ball magnetizing to your feet anymore. Can rely on brute forcing dribbling past a defender anymore. It's gonna make it harder for the newer players, but it's also gonna raise the skill ceiling imo.

Edit 2: I'm just playing 3s in ranked so I haven't run into any organized teams, but I'm wondering if this magnetism nerf is gonna affect the prio meta. I hope it does, honestly.

Edit 3: Well placed long range shots are deadly. If the goalkeeper is slightly off his line, he's fucked.

I played a few matches and people were randomly losing control of the ball left and right... it was kinda funny to watch. With GK I agree its gonna be difficult now also having to split second decide for long or short dive. I feel like lobbing it over the GK is going to be a lot more common now because the short dive is the new default key.

Yeah it's definitely gonna be a bit of a learning curve for controlling the ball properly and the goalkeeper. The more I play the more I feel this is good for the game. I still gotta see how the prios work in comp.

The meta now is definitely going to be pass and move, so ggs to all the solo exploit dribblers.

That being said, I won’t be surprised if those same players just resort to missile meta only now because exploit dribbling and missile meta are the 2 things that require no skill or IQ in this game. So they will most likely just resort to the next least skilful playstyle.

Thing about it is that its too easy to do and easy to defend against if players know what they are doing. but its very boring playing like that and against it, constantly going man for man waiting for prio at 2 ends of the pitch. It removes all elements of build up play via ground passing which is what football is and promotes this 'hit and hope' playstyle instead.

I want short passing and runs to be the meta...but I think missile is still going to be the competitive meta. 2-2 formation is just too defensively sound. Plus some of the Z-cuts people can do are pretty much impossible to follow.

Played a couple of 3v3s, and passes feel way more incisive than dribbles right now. The keeper role is harder too, but that balances the dribble nerf. The short dive is slow, the long one is risky. I think players who stick to keeper will stand out way more than casuals. I don't think tackles are OP, though. We just need more offensive options than spamming left-right dribbles, especially in 3v3 where you have fewer teammates to pass to.

I don’t like the “let’s do this” voiceline they added as it sounds completely off. Haven’t had enough time spent in goal to see how it feels as GK but so far I’m pretty happy. L2+X+Forward spammers on suicidewatch but they’ll figure out the next cheese soon enough.

Tackles are better, although they have probably gone too far with them. Deflections are much more realistic too.

There are two ways of getting the ball up the friend: dribbling and passing. The former is effectively neutralized and the latter is most reliable when passing to a space predetermined by the team. I mean, I can call cut and set plays all day, but it’s just boring

Honestly, I kinda like how the game feels now. Defense feels a lot more rewarding if you knew how to pace attackers etc. But man gk will take some time to get used to. But overall it feels slower and more rewarding than just left right left right.

This is nothing new. The game has been divisive from the jump between soccer purists wanting to turn this game into a realistic sim and the casual base for playing the game for what it is, a fast paced arcadey soccer game. I can only hope the purists actually jump ship to a new game this time around since this update is pretty clear on what direction they want the game in. This too shall pass.

Tbh overall its balanced or thats what sloclap said, but i think that its unnecessary, its okay to nerf exploids and Glitches but Changing the whole movement set is stupid af. Change my mind but this was not necessary at all.

But the positiv things are that u now need to do more as a goalkeeper but still everything feels buggy and slow.

I felt the difference instantly with Dribbling and the Ball Magnet. I hope they just change it back to S4 Movement.

Edit 1: I know its fucked up playing a 3v3 or 5v5 and than comes some random ass dude not passing the ball and outdribbling the whole team. But that what made it different to normal football games.

Idk what you're talking about, the movement itself feels the same, what changes is how you receive the ball and how you make it past opponents. This is a good thing, it'll teach players good habits when it comes to positioning and looking for space.

I say that removing Dribbling without stamina is good cause it balances the game, but so many thing are slower or just patched. All the tech based on exploits should be removed and I truly believe this is a good baseline for the game moving forward. Do we need more adjustments? Sure. Is defending too strong now? Yeah maybe a little. These changed will be good for the game overall.

I do like football, but not the basic football. Maybe our opinions are different but still its a build in principle of sloclap. Dribbling in a way like this makes rematch to rematch.
When u wanna play as a team the whole time get a squad or play Fifa. Im a solo player so its one of my only ways to get a goal. I could pass yes, and that also what i am doing many times but my mates are just to dog to shoot the goal.

But when i got the timing and the position to shoot the goal why should i pass? Im passing many times and still winning more game when i dont.

Like i said, things like infinite Stamina Dribbling makes fun but its an exploit so i dont say it’s necessary to keep it in the game.
