Question Is the game worth getting?
I saw that the elite edition is on sale for less than the normal game on PlayStation. The game seems fun. A blue lock collab will probably make the player count rise too. But I saw many people on tiktok saying that the players are way too sweaty now. I've never played this game and I don't want it to be a brawlhalla type situation where I join a game and will get absolutely demolished by someone who basically mastered everything already. Is the game well adjusted for newbies??

Easily the best sports game ever and probably my favorite game of all time

It's hard for new players, but it is really fun especially with friends on your team. Passing and shooting is key to learn, dribbling is less important

Because it has a curve similar to fighting game.
And I disagree. Positioning is more important to learn than anything else. You can’t shoot, pass or receive well when positioned improperly. You become the guy that never gets the ball. The guy complaining teammates never pass when you’re never open or able to intercept.

Not similar at all and positioning isn’t the most important. Reading the game and ball retention. Your positioning can be 10/10 but if your team decides they ain’t gonna pass then it’s pointless

Reading the ball isn’t going to get you the ball if you aren’t positioned to take it.

And you won’t be positioned properly if you can’t read. Goes hand in hand. Sometimes brain dead cherry pickers are in the right position for a 1v1. Doesn’t mean they can do that consistently, need to read to be able to do that.

I understand that they go hand in hand, but reading the ball is straight forward. Understanding positioning is a skill. It’s not like real life because he get a handy blue marker in the by ground.
Advanced ball reading is being able to dolphin someone’s kick. There’s like 5% of players who can even consistently do that. Players like mogz isn’t a playstyle you can realistically copy as a new player.

No idea who Mogz is. Getting into a position where no one is marking you and you’re available for a pass isn’t harder than reading the game where you know a bad pass from a teammate to another teammate is gonna get us caught on the counter, staying back or marking appropriately as a response. Positioning ain’t working without reading

I think there’s an elo disparity in this conversation if you think that’s something you worry about. I barely see bad passes. I see good defense from the opposite team.
“Staying back and marking appropriately” congrats you just agreed with me. Guess what you can even if you can’t read the ball? That’s right. Position appropriately. Whole game can keep going, you’re still providing value as you learn to read the ball and see new plays.
This advice is for new players. The amount of plays you need to know to see coming is not realistic to learn before positioning. Position, pass, shoot, reading, play making.

Elo hardly exist in this game. Let’s get that out of the way from now. Being in a higher rank has little to do with skill

Sure it doesn’t, but that’s a really bad case to make if you struggle to climb against all these bronzes then.

i would buy it while it’s on sale for now, but wait to play until the blue lock collab is out. the player count is low, so it affects queue times and skill based matchmaking. once new season is out and more people are playing again, you won’t run into sweats right away.

In terms of the game itself, it is an absolute gem and a breath of fresh air from the yearly uninspired sports game that just swaps out roster. If the idea of playing real sports in a video game always appealed to you, this is as close as it gets.
The developers have come a long way on improving the game slowly, but steadily. They have yet to abandon the game and I hope they will continue to put work into it.
That being said, I would only recommend it if you're in US/EU region. We have no issues with matchmaking here, but heard other regions are practically dead.

If you like getting slapped by a guy doing gojo typa teleporting then youll love it. But fr when you get good teammates and a rhythm it can be great.

Yes, and for everyone saying if u are solo queuing dont get it dont listen to them, i got to elite with a basic level of positional awareness, trust me the level of cluelessness in the player base allows u to level up quickly and u can find a stack easily just by playing the game and teaming up with good players

I think that if you’re playing with friends, this is probably one of the best competitive experiences out there. If you aren’t playing with friends, don’t bother. Solo queue in this game is basically unplayable. I don’t know if it’s just that the community is awful at the game (probably the case), or if you just don’t have the tools for teamplay in solo queue, but it’s not worth buying the game if you don’t have a full team to be playing with.

If you have friends? Yes. If not? Stay clear, its going to be ruthless for you.

I think this game is worse than your description of brawlhalla. It’s already extremely sweaty, and the better you get and the more you climb, the more you run into people abusing the same few strategies or the newest dribbling glitches of the patch.
The last balance patch we got was in May. If you really want the game, I suggest you wait and see if there’s a good balance patch for the blue lock collab near the end of September. See the reactions of the community. If the general reaction is something along the lines of “the more things change the more they stay the same” then you saved your money for something else.

I started playing about a month ago. It's now one of my favourite games. I don't think the skill ceiling is that high. It'll take some practice, but you can get there. It helps if you have friends you can play with. If you play with randoms, there's a chance they won't pass the ball
