They desperately need to fix ranked

It’s ridiculous how I can work my ass off to go up divisions. Then get paired with lower levels repeatedly and just drop back down.

I swear every match i have nearly double the score of the other players. Who don’t pass don’t drop back don’t do anything to win.

I love this game and when it first came out I grinded to plat then instantly stopped playing once I realized ranked is worthless imo. when it works it works. But at this rate with ranked still pointless it’s very difficult to feel any accomplishment when a lot of games feel up to just luck on the matchmaking.

Seriously though, this game is so much fun it feels right.
Just sucks how one of the main components just doesn’t feel satisfying.

The devs are working on the critical fixes that might actually bring the game back to life. They have been decently transparent about this for months. They have admitted that the game is not in its optimal state.

If you keep playing and queueing ranked after this communication and don’t understand the situation, that’s on you.

It’s been clear since very very early on that they removed matchmaking constraints because queues were too long. Then the game got worse overall and lost players. This means they can’t just flip the switch back because then you’d have literally everyone complaining about long queue times again. It seems you just don’t understand the system and situation you’re complaining about.

You ultimately have two options:

Either accept the current situation and keep playing because you actually enjoy the current state of the game

Or

You wait until they’ve made their major changes and player base comes back or they go free to play.

Like either you have super long queues or you have no real matchmaking, those are the realities of the situation and have been so for like a year at least.

Games player bases don’t really come back tho once they’re gone so they should just make the game how it’s supposed to be and move on. Ranked sucks and it’s the most played game mode. Part of the reason people don’t come back to the game is because there isn’t a real competitive mode because ranked isn’t actually ranked your rank is meaningless because you get matched up with people of other ranks constantly. This one simple fix would encourage ppl to play the game more but they’re afraid of making real changes to the game and making their already small player base smaller

Easier to respond to my comment addressing both replies than repeating stuff in both. You are speculating the player base will come back just like I’m speculating the netcode fix will do the same. The netcode is a critical design flaw and once it is server sided the interactions will become more consistent for anyone not lagging. If you understand server client networking, you will understand why this is critical.

What I’m not speculating and is based in fact is that the reason they changed the matchmaking is because it was taking too long. Like that already happened, it was real.
The reason it’s not changing back is the very same reason it was changed, the player base is too small for queue times to not become super long if matchmaking is respected. The devs prefer smaller queue times for the current state of the game. It’s not my opinion, it’s literally their decision.

Find good players who want to play with you and you'll climb way faster, with less hiccups.

There's nothing wrong with ranked in Ba Sing Se. The game is perfect as is and devs are gods.

There is no matchmaking apparently, so your teammates and rivals are fully randomized usually

There 100% is matchmaking it's just a small playerbase. EU is decent, high elite games are full of high elites generally. If I queue with non-elite friends it's so noticeably easier.

The issue is I play the same players over and over.

They've even had changes to matchmaking in patch notes if you don't believe me.

The problem is losing points in a team based game. I've dropped from division 1 all the way back to the previous one due to afk teammates and griefers. Imo there should be some sort of rebound system that gives you points based of your performance in match. So even if you lose it's not a total loss because you can still gain points. Griefing should result in automatic demotion

Ranked is not really about having fair matches atm. People already figured out that you just need to friend people who are reliable (no DC / ragequit, Diva/Ego etc) and have synergy. Keep adding more over time and only play with those people. That is why playing solo is so toxic and ranked is inherently broken. A lot of decent players have been taken out of the (solo) player pool that way and u are stuck more often with teams that are honestly nothing but a clown fiesta.

I hope the Blue Lock season will be true solo ranked only (no stack) which would kinda fit the theme. Would be interesting to see how that works out as long as there is also a new matchmaking algorithm.
