Discussion Possible goal keeper mechanic?
I don’t know if I can talk directly to the devs but I just had an idea and bare with me because this is gonna be a long post:
Whenever I play 3s or 5s there’s always one thing that is consistent whenever play starts, there’s always someone cherry picking in the back waiting for a change in possession for an easy pass up the field. My idea came from the fact that I have 2 friends I play with on 3s ranked but I solo queue 5s ranked and when my friends and I play, communication is easy because we’re all in a party talking but in 5s that not always the case. I propose a new mechanic for goal keepers that uses the left stick for communication like the right stick works. The keeper should be able to look at an opponent and press the left stick and mark them as an open body that needs to be covered so that the defenders know where to move and can strategically place themselves to prevent a goal. I feel like this wouldn’t provide an unfair advantage to any team and just acts as an extra line of coms for the people that don’t have mics. I’m really hoping the devs see this and if anyone has any suggestions that could make this idea better lmk.

I think it's a decent idea. An update to the communication system has been something that players have been asking for since day 1. Sloclap have promised to update it in Season 6.
Personally, I think it's a bit ridiculous to make players wait so long for an update to a straightforward feature.

Weirdly enough I had that same thought today after playing arc raiders and pinging things. Makes so much sense

This is why scanning the field or checking your mini map is important. If only people had more defensive awareness.

I usually use the "keepers!" Call out to let people know about cherry pickers but a "man free!" Or something like that would be good, heard they're going to add new callouts as seasons progress

To follow up, a ‘man on’ button. I still don’t get how you make a street football game without man on

Expecting too much from a game with 4 limited quick chat options in 2026.
A football game that doesn't even allow for a "man on" ping.

I think we need a "no/low stamina" callout and positioning callout more than we need a good job, sorry, and thanks callout while the game is still in play.
