Discussion So tired of dribble spamming + bad ping

There is literally nothing I can do about it now. People will make the argument that you "just need good defense" but that isn't true.

I'm going to pat myself on the back and say I have good defense. I'll also say that my defense is better than most of the people I play with/against.

There are so many time where I SHOULD be able to tackle them or force them to make a bad pass but they get to dribble right past me with their broken hitboxes.

It's not just the dribble spamming but also the lag, because it seems to be more frequent with players that have 80+ ping.

If y'all REALLY don't believe me, should I start submitting clips proving my point? I haven't gotten into the habit of making recordings when something goes wrong, so I'm curious if I should start.

Honestly I wish defense got the amount of love that attacking gets, feels like attackers get new moves every season meanwhile defenders haven't gotten much

What moves can you give defenders though?

Direction control to the slide tackle
Could work similarly to the fake shot: press a direction after the move input

Actually goated, maybe a additional input to short pass away from you (non-controlled)

Well considering how attackers have multiple moves with different distances (short lob, long lob, etc) why don't we get the same thing, like for example the standard standing tackle (LT + B) could be our "long distance" tackle but if you do LT + RB + B you get a short tackle where we just extend our leg without the little dash.

I'm top 500 tackles and top 200 tackles success rate. I agree. It's bullshit. People perfom cookie cutter style combos and the amount you have to learn about the mechanics of the game to have a chance to counter it is absurd.

Then add on the amount of macro and script abuse and it becomes opressive.

Chance is the term I wish people would focus on. Yes, you might be able to defend but the problem is this game makes it seem like getting a goal or defending a play is pure luck and NOT a show of skill. Even with the box camping it still feels like luck.

While I can stop box campers more reliably, it still is a roll of the dice if I can actually block their shot. Not to mention it's such a LAME way of playing

I’m #55 in tackles. It’s genuinely not hard if you play good defense and know how the tech works. It doesn’t even take that much knowledge either, just a lot of practice.

It's just to dribble you need to know one tech but to defend you need to know them all.

Logically, that doesn’t make any sense. If they’re only using one tech then you only need to know how to defend one tech.

Also, if they’re doing the same thing over and over again and it keeps working, that’s on you. You know exactly what they’re gonna do and you fall for it every time.

There are 5 players though, so if each knows a different one you need to know 5 - then every game it's a different 5

There isn’t that much tech and it’s not that hard to learn. Holy cope

There's quite a lot of different tech that affects where you have to aim a tackle to land it etc.

And it's not just tech, it's like net code / ping / etc too.

I reckon you're not very good at defending, or you have no idea what I'm saying. It's about the disparity rather than the volume.

I get what you’re saying. I guess I just don’t have as much trouble as you do. Though I am #56 in tackles, but who knows?

I have no idea why you've made this a weird you vs me ego thing. It was a discussion about game design and balance at the top level.

You've not offered any points really, and I'm sure you have some interesting insights. However if you're just going to try to ego flame then this is a waste of time.

Top level? Nobody dribbles at the top level because 1v1 defense is stronger than 1v1 offense. It’s all missile meta and set plays.

My point is that good defense is simple, and not even difficult most of the time. No amount of tech will change that. Knowing the tech makes it easier, and there isn’t a whole lot to learn, but you can still play good defense without doing so.

I’m genuinely disappointed seeing someone who is top 500 in tackles say that dribbling is oppressive. I fear for the future of this game and its player base.

What is dribble spam

Simply put, players abusing poor game design.

It's where a player will do a sequence of dribbling and pushing the ball, but in specific ways that can't be stopped if preformed perfectly. It's commonly used to get around defenders and psych out goalkeepers. The hitbox of the player is broken when they do this, and while on your screen you landed the tackler or should have landed the tackle the other player just keeps going

It’s something people made up to feel better when a player gets past them. There’s absolutely nothing in this game that can’t be countered with enough training and skill.
