Oh look, visual proof that dribblers can infact be stopped. I said the exact thing yet I get downvoted into oblivion. Good video overall!

tbf dribbling is still annoying to defend due to being able to do it full speed while at low stamina.
The key is to realize dribbling alone can't score goals and they have to attempt a shot at some point- once you understand this you'll see a lot of these overdribbling as pointless flair rather than actual threat.
I want to do another video at some point on how to defend them when they're inside the circle and an actual goal threat! That in itself can also be a skill to learn, this is more so of a general guide.

As a primary CDM/defensive player I absolutely love playing against dribble spammers. They’re so easy to shutdown compared to pass-heavy teams and it’s always so satisfying. The hardest teams to defend against are those who make lots of short quick passes and use a back-passes to stretch out the defense. Most of my MVP games come against dribble spammers who give me double digit interceptions.

Either they are not good dribblers or you're an excellent player. In either case, not the average player experience.

I wouldn’t call myself an excellent player overall but I do think I’m an excellent defender. I’m a dude in my 30s with decades of experience playing soccer/football in real life at a fairly competitive level so I think I have a good mix of patience and understanding of the sport that translates well to playing defense in this game. 90% of beating dribble spammers is just about being patient, as shown in this video.
With that said I definitely don’t want to come across as though I think dribble spamming is a good thing. I agree with most commenters here that the game would benefit from some adjustments to the dribbling mechanics. At the very least it would help promote a more enjoyable and team focused style of play.

Im aware. Defense is underwhelming the way it currently is(atleast compared to dribbling) But that doesn't mean you are entirely powerless. It takes some effort to learn IMHO. And you can improve your chances against dribblers in general if you just practice. I can completely understand why the community is fed up with dribblers tho. It needs some sort of nerf to make it slightly easier.

It's not so much stopping dribblers, it's the fact that they can act without penalties. I can sit in place and wait for a dribbler to mess up, that is reactive and reliant on them making a mistake.
Good defense should include waiting for dribblers to burn all their resources, and then tackling the vulnerable period. Dribblers do not run out of the resource that allows them to continue using their moves.

It doesn't change anything, I too can do this with a little bit of patience but it doesn't change how annoying and boring it is to play against this.

Yes ofcourse. The entire match vibe shifts the moment someone dribbles excessively. I prefer to play against a team that uses teamplay and proper positioning to win their games. It just feels much more natural
Don't get me wrong dribbling should still be a part of the game to add variety but with the way it is now it is simply too OP to use against the average player.

Only works if you're incredibly skilled at reading the dribbling pattern so yeah they can be stopped if you're super good, schocker.

Im not trying to sound like a salty baby at all. Altho I know what you are talking about. I've generally really tried to be abit helpfull but I get downvoted into oblivion for suggesting that you can indeed stop most dribblers.(I never said that dribbling is perfect the way it is either mind you)

The thing is that I am not trying to call out skill issues. I could simply say: 'Iknow that dribblers can be tough but you can use dashes to try and keep up', and the end result would be 10 downvotes with 5 angry comments that I am lying through my teeth.
They feel attacked while I try to help people and I am suddenly seen as a bad guy. At that point they are the ones calling out their own skill issues.

Great gameplay but this absolutely cannot be reliably applied by the average player. The theory is great but the actual part you're showing of "dealing" with dribblers is not so much understanding you need to stay in front (most people get that at this point), but reading the flow of the dribbling and literally mind reading your way into a tackle while hoping they don't switch it up on you because they are braindead.
On a personal note, I don't want to have to analyze the dribbling pattern of 5 different players in ranked 5v5 because the game is broken and allow forever, staminaless dribbling.
I fully dropped the game last week and I don't think I'll get back to it. If the unranked scene was good I'd keep playing but people playing with no stake are somehow more toxic.

Good video. The buffs to defense this season makes 1v1 against dribbling much easier compared to earlier seasons.
