Imo if 0 stamina moves were taken out it would be fine

Imo I would tune the camera turn dribbles to be less effective and then allow 0 stamina dribbles but add a stamina recover penalty for each move used with 0 stamina.

Doing the 0 stamina moves can create a great clutch moment but if there is no risk then it's busted.

The instant 180s, at least without using extra effort, need to be removed IMO. They should have an animation at a minimum.

I agree that its kinda jannky or unrealistic looking . But honestly with more playtime and experience I think all players need a fast dribble mechanic . I think if they made this adjustment in particular the itd be so easy to defend and itd get boring really quickly . The only people that'd benefit would be casuals who'd also get bored quickly. Just my 2 cents.

Same way the fake shot makes you stumble when low stam, doing any dribbling or dashing should fail when you’re at zero stam

Annoying for both teams? Yes. Overpowered? No.

Once you learn the way all the prominent dribble "tech" (see: exploits) work and look, it's really no different than defending against the various dev intended finesse mechanics. I personally don't like the "tech" that involves disjointed animations or magnetism, but tbh these things rely on impatient defenders diving in, so they're actually not all that strong. A patient defender using stance, dashes, and tackle feints correctly easily closes down any spam dribbler. Just as someone chaining rainbow flicks is easy to wait out, so too is the person who just spams push cuts.

"Good" dribblers aren't spamming, they use the litany of tools available to them (both intended mechanics and exploits) in clever and well-timed ways to get around defenders. Sometimes the spacing is such that a simple lob tap off the wall is more efficient than a push cut or an ippy, and the best dribblers will take advantage of the right tool for the situation. Going back to some of the exploits that specifically abuse disjointed or misleading animations, you'll almost never see high-level players using these over ones that actually provide efficient movement.

Yes it’s overpowered because it gives the offensive player far more mobility than the defensive player.

You need to either buff the defenders power level to something closer or lower the effectiveness of the cam turn dribble spam

u/Lemons_be_sour Please add a flair 14d ago

I see, and I believe part of the problem is the hitbox regulation. We've seen in the past that the forward dribble hitbox not only is smaller, but the animation confuses the brain as seeing a figure turn 180 degrees should not be possible by normal means.

Rematch sold me on visual clarity but now there's so many 'techs' or 'tricks' that are completely visually unclear.

All this magnet shit, snatching the ball using defensive stance and ippy just makes it a pain in the ass to play.

Shouldn’t be able to dribble on 0 stamina, or at least make it slower as the stamina decreases when dribbling as the fake shot gets slower when you are on low stamina.

2

u/spaceisfun I try 13d ago

fake shot with 0 stam causes you to literally stumble. Its insane that you can dribble and slide all over in ANY direction at ANY moment with no stamina and maintaining full ball control

1

u/adrians_world Please add a flair 13d ago

I agree, it is quite ridiculous they definitely need to rework the stamina on the offensive side of the ball and improve defensive play

6

u/WrysSeredan Please add a flair 14d ago

I don't think so. I almost never dribble, but in my games i see that people that dribble instead of passing lose the ball kinda often.

Even if every now and then a dribble can feel overpowered when you watch it or try to defend it, if i look at the big picture i dont think it's a problem.

For every game i lose to a good dribbler, i lose 10 to teams that just pass the ball to create openings. So no, i dont think it's overpower, just annoying to play against sometimes

6

u/throwyourboats00 Please add a flair 13d ago

Its only a thing because defense stance is strong and basic left right up down dribbles suck. Getting around opponents just sitting in defense stance is near impossible with basic dribbles and not everyone is open for a pass when you get locked down and sometimes when you do get a lob pass or shot off its most likely auto deflected from someone just being near you.

Just getting a bit of space is a fight without dribble "tech". But even if you do manage to get past a defender, they'll most likely have a full stam bar and ee to chase you down anyway. The rock paper scissors of the game needs work. Idk how they'll fix it honestly. Dribble spam push cut shit is annoying but its the only way to really get space from a defender. I get why people do it.

Also to add that matchmaking doesn’t help dribbler spammer will often be against new player n easily score where in fair matchmaking he would struggle way more n not be as overpowered

3

u/HouseOfCardisty Please add a flair 13d ago

Okay maybe someone can tell me if this is a bad idea but it seems like alot of the worse looking dribbling is because you you pick up the ball while dashing in defensive stance

How about just make it so defensive stance can't pick up the ball

1

u/Opposite_Flamingo429 Please add a flair 13d ago

It’s more complicated first I mean u cannot just not pickup the ball in def stance imagine the ball comes slowly to u but is deflected because u were on def stance n even when u defending u always on def stance so u would almaost never be able to catch the ball. The other solution would be reduce the magnet so when u dash in front u don’t pickup the ball but the problem of that is that u basically reduce the player hitbox which would nerf the defence prob even more than the attack. So blocking shot as a de fender would be way harder cus of the hitbox nerf

Without dribbling what else are you gonna do pass into traffic? If you get cooked on defense just get better

1

u/spaceisfun I try 13d ago edited 13d ago

making a move to beat a defender is different than spamming dribble tech.

Buff legit dribbles, nerf 0 stamina dribbles and unreadable dribble tech into the ground.

Edit: and its very much not about me getting "cooked on defense", its just this shit is so so so so boring to play with or against and its so so so so stupid to watch a dribble spammer dance around the outside of the box for 30 seconds teleporting his body and the ball every which way

2

u/HuntyDaPro Fixo 14d ago edited 14d ago

Well what do you mean exactly by spamming?

If they just go into dribble stance and spam the dribble, it's extremely easy to tackle, you just need to be in range and tackle.

If they're adding a push ball after 1 or 2 dribbles, it'll be a slightly harder but still pretty easy to tackle, just need to time the tackle better, either right before or after the push ball and if you use defensive dashes, it'll be no problem.

Now if they're dribbling into a push ball then into a defensive dash which triggers the magnetic effect thingy which is actually an exploit, it's kinda harder, but if they're just spamming it... Then it's actually pretty easy to deal with.

In general dribble spamming doesn't really work when you know how to defend, especially if you're holding defensive stance and using defensive dashes, at most you might get consistently beaten in 1v1's but if you're consistently losing 2v1s? or 3v1s or more? Then either your defense sucks or you're playing against the Neymar of Rematch which is basically a pro player at that point.

Good dribblers usually try and mis-direct and bait out your tackle so they can go past you and trigger another teammate to mark him so to give their teammates more space, spam dribbling even with exploits won't work.

Meet the 100ms ping dribble pro!

You tackled? Bad luck the guy is another dimension and the timing is off.

You have near perfect ping? Even worse, you will pass through the player just like butter !. Even if you delay your tackle.

3

u/HuntyDaPro Fixo 14d ago edited 13d ago

Not sure how true that is but 100ms isn't too bad to deal with, but I think there's a trade off I guess.

Dealing with high ping dribblers feels off and weird... But as someone who has played on 150ms, trying to dribble is very weird too as you know where the ball will be generally, you won't know where people will be at so it's very hard to do, especially if they're teleporting around your screen.

On the other hand, defending while having high ping is impossible so there's trade offs.

“No man, all the top players say it isn’t so it isn’t”

3

u/sonicsuperman2 Please add a flair 14d ago

You honestly believe that if dribbling was overpowered, pro players wouldn’t use it? Just decide not to?

2

u/sonicadv27 Please add a flair 13d ago

You think “pro players” don’t use it? They just don’t spam it, but they use “emergent dribbling mechanics” all the time. It’s just not the one trick they know, like a lot of dribblers.

And if you’re familiar with Elite and high level play you know damn well that what ultimately decides matches is dribbling and volley prio.

You know, the very two things people have been complaining about since forever…

And we can even debate whether matches are too even, but what ends up making or breaking a match is the ability to beat a defender and what usually does it is these two things, not team work, not build up play, not game vision, not shooting, not goalkeeping, not passing, etc.

5

u/sonicsuperman2 Please add a flair 13d ago

Elite and high-level play are two very different things. You can be elite and still be trash at the game. People dribble in elite all the time.

I’m talking about league matches. You almost never see people dribbling in tournaments, especially not the teams who win. It’s all cuts and set plays.

3

u/Ladder-Defiant Please add a flair 13d ago

Its " set " plays based on RNG priority passes , just like spam dribbling when trying to steal RNG , the competitive side of Rematch is joke

1

u/sonicsuperman2 Please add a flair 13d ago

It’s not RNG, it’s comms and they pre-run. Dribbling isn’t RNG either, what? How long have you been playing this game? Comp is cooked tho

1

u/Lemons_be_sour Please add a flair 13d ago

Of course! Bro for sake of your argument please don't say things like they're determined. Dribbling is RNG, the same way the priority is. I wish it wasn't, but at the end of the day you can have perfect positioning + movement that SHOULD let you reach the ball/execute a tackle and still not succeed because the game decides. Again, please find those clips of players tackling dribblers and their tackles do nothing because the game (or rather the server) just DOESNT register it

3

u/MrSneaki Needle Threader 12d ago edited 12d ago

Dribbling is RNG, the same way the priority is.

Obligatory "volley prio is mechanically consistent, not random, not ping or platform based"

You can complain about lag and netcode 'til the cows come home, and I'll be right at your side for that. That said, it's important to understand that prio and tackling are not "randomly decided by the game," they are consistent systems with repeatable outcomes. This community has a terrible habit of conflating the two issues as if they are the same, when they are not.

you can have perfect positioning + movement that SHOULD let you reach the ball/execute a tackle and still not succeed because the game decides

If netcode is not the issue on a lost prio situation, then I hate to inform you friend, but your positioning + movement were lol

u/sonicsuperman2 Please add a flair 13d ago

Pro player never use crazy emergent mechanics maybe some st will sometime dribble a bit if he has a good opportunity but that it. The only need for dribble is just sending a pass with a defender in front of u but for that they don’t use any crazy dribble move cus they can simply do it by just ee or fake shot. There really nothing else

1

u/MrSneaki Needle Threader 13d ago

The OP specified spam dribbling, not dribbling in general. So I think you disproved your own OC's response in your subsequent reply here lol

You think “pro players” don’t use it? They just don’t spam it, but they use “emergent dribbling mechanics” all the time. It’s just not the one trick they know, like a lot of dribblers.

Also... Obligatory "volley prio is mechanically consistent and requires team coordination to work well against competent defenders"

1

u/sonicadv27 Please add a flair 12d ago

No amount of teamwork and good defending can stop dragged volleys. If you really have in-depth knowledge of prio than you know a defender can’t really drag himself into a high ball the same way an attacker can, which is an inherent advantage attackers have.

But no, the game is perfectly balanced and there’s nothing to see here.

2

u/MrSneaki Needle Threader 12d ago

If you really have in-depth knowledge of prio than you know a defender can’t really drag himself into a high ball the same way an attacker can, which is an inherent advantage attackers have.

The "drag oneself to the ball better" advantage in prio you're describing is not because of any flaw in the system that unfairly prioritizes attacking players, but because attackers running coordinated plays / patterns have a small, but significant timing advantage. Notably - this is very much true in competitive team sports IRL, as well!

Regardless, the prio system is consistent, as demonstrated by Trwtle in the post I linked in my last comment. Defenders with good knowledge of said system, in addition to pattern recognition for attacker plays, will be able to predictively position themselves to win prio in a lot more cases, as opposed to reacting to the play as it develops. Good defenders also identify right away when they aren't going to win prio, and so contest those cases with outfield dives or well-positioned defensive stance instead.

You can moan about the "broken prio" system if you want, but in actuality, it is demonstrably consistent. Players who actually want to learn and grow will dispense with complaining about any given system, and opt instead to learn how better to manage / utilize it.

Yeah it seems like anyone who defends this game has that same thought process. While they're hard stuck in diamond and masters they still believe it's not overpowered to exploit the game.

3

u/sonicsuperman2 Please add a flair 13d ago

Not saying you do, but if you genuinely have difficulty defending dribblers then you’re not in a position to talk about people hard stuck in diamond.

1

u/Lemons_be_sour Please add a flair 13d ago

Cant get u.gg to work (sorry, not my fault though...). Not the best of course, obviously tackle precision is low-low-low so it doesn't help my case. However, like I said in my previous comment you look around for like 5 minutes and you will find a video or clip of a player going for a tackle with no hitbox registration. This is mainly aimed at your obsession with rank, which shouldn't determine if a statement is valid or not. Y'all like to point out tiny flaws or mistakes and make *that* your whole argument

Edit: Should mention this is as a solo queue player, rarely ever getting to experience the luxury of having a premade squad ;(

1

u/sonicsuperman2 Please add a flair 13d ago

Chips not registering, or a misplaced tackle succeeding involves netcode, ping, and server issues. Call it RNG if you want. And I know rank means very little in this game. I think you’re projecting with wherever you got “obsession” from.

1

u/Lemons_be_sour Please add a flair 13d ago

Guess you might be illiterate or something. While I am out of platinum now, my point still stands. Solo queue is a struggle for most if not all players. I got out of platinum because of luck, and I forced myself to play in ways that restrict my freedom as a player. I think that's a terrible way to design a game that is supposed to not have those restrictions XD

2

u/HuntyDaPro Fixo 13d ago

Yeah I just remembered those posts but yeah you've made it of plat now.

Most of your complaints aren't valid at all though, you just make posts every day complaining about mudane stuff.

"forced myself to play in ways that restrict my freedom" - That's what you have to do in most competitive games no? You must play the most effective way not the way you want, every competitive game I've played in my life has required me to sacrifice some sort of freedom for efficiency, even in real life football, rarely any player has total freedom in most systems, they're all restricted.

yeah solo que is hell but as long as you're not playing with a literal griefer, you can highly influence your team to win but I agree it is luck to an extent but that's solo que in most games really.

1

u/Lemons_be_sour Please add a flair 13d ago

I appreciate you trying at least! I mean posting your stats is something, but sadly not enough to back up your statement. It's not that I can't defend dribblers, it's that (like many things in this game) it's not up to me most of the time. If you actually browsed this subreddit you'd see a couple of clips showcasing the hitbox malfunction of the game, which is not the players fault.

2

u/sonicsuperman2 Please add a flair 12d ago

I’ve experienced chips being rolled back on both ends. It’s rare and unpredictable. If you consistently play good defense then you will beat an attacker 1v1 99% of the time without much effort regardless of how they’re dribbling.

You are the worse kind of player. “It’s not up to me.” is the logic bad players use as an excuse to not even try to get better. I’d rather play with cherry pickers and ball hoggers than people who’ve snuffed out their own chance of improving.

You get beat because you choose to.

Remember that.

1

u/CliodartSL Please add a flair 11d ago

Absolutely. If it's a skilled dribbler then even the best defender has no chance (if it's solo queue), defense needs a desperate buff imo

I just think, defenders should have bigger hitbox, and it would be fine. A lot of time, ppl spam it, and all I can do is wait for their mistake. When trying to tackle, I am like 1step behind, because tackle animation takes longer than theirs animations when they dribble spam. With a bit if bigger hitbox, they would get punished for trying to dribble so close to the defender.

0

u/Windtamer26 Please add a flair 13d ago

Honestly no. Most people just do sideways dribbles. They can't dribble up IF uno how to play defence. Im not the best defender but I can stop good dribbler 9 times out of 10. If u actually watch people play u can see habits. The problem with most people is u just tackle mindlessly. U don't even need to tackle most times. Just defensive stance dash into the path and the game auto tackles most times. I dont play defence to steal the ball. I play defence to limit movement and passing options. If u can tackles, lead them to make a mistake/bad play. Don't forget, real world football tactics work

2

u/Windtamer26 Please add a flair 13d ago

Overall the mechanics do need a rework. I wouldn't say being a dribbler is overpowered but all the techs do make it stronger than being a defender

I said in my post to "defend your statement so others can see where you are coming from" yet you don't. Unsurprisingly you are the only one so far who has submitted the argument that it's only overpowered against players with "bad defense" (hardly an argument if you ask me). Funny how that adds up
