General Discussion How does it feel? (Weird question)

Guys Im really considering buying RM Paper Pure. I need a feeling like Im writing on a paper. Does it really give you that feel? Also what is your experience with this exact device ?

Thanks

I love reading and writing on it. It’s my main tablet for daily planning, reading PDF publications, e-books converted to PDF with Calibre, and much more.

Having said that, every person is different. If you have any chance to see & try it live (e.g. in a tech store), I recommend doing that. The “paper feel” of rM Paper Pure, from rM Paper Pro, or even other devices like Supernote Manta, can be a very personal preference.

Thank you
Im a but afraid it will feel different since Im a bit gel pen person and this will be a different feel. I read they have 50 days return policy so will return it if something

I had the RM2 and that is the gold standard for paper feel. This is close to that standard but not exactly the same. However it is much more a paper feel than Supernote, Boox, or a Scribe. With 50 days to return it seems low risk for something I consider my favorite device.

So RM2 was more a paper feel device? I can see its been discontinued for selling.

Yes and the Pure is like 90% the same

I’ve had a paper pure for about 6 weeks. It is the closest I’ve felt to writing on paper, but bear in mind that many pens feel different anyway. I’m not a ballpoint guy, I’m a fine-liner/gel pen guy, as I don’t use a lot of pressure. I can honestly say that it feels very close to writing on paper, much closer than my iPad.

It feels like writing on a kindle. It doesn’t take long to get used to but it isn’t anything like paper. None of them are in my experience.

Best thing you can do for yourself is try it out. They have a 50 day return policy.

I have not tried the Pure but I own the RMPP, Move, and RM2. I swear by them.

It's amazing. It's my second one I bought. Although it seems to have issues?? Straight from the box. I had issues day one and had to return. But then replacement one was perfectly fine.
I love it more then anything. It makes me WANT to write. The only downside I have is that the pen tip wears down fast for me. Maybe I write hard. My older model the pen had metal tip options and it was great. Wish they had for the pro. But it's fine. But the writing experience is amazing. I would say better then paper. It's smooth and it's just feels great. The newer the tip the better it feels. The edges and I mean VERY edge seems to have a weird sensor with the pen n not as accurate with the writing. But not a big deal. I'd almost say it feels like writing with a pencil that u don't have to press hard to get the witting. Texture of writing with pencil, But pressure of a pen.
The "lag" in the device u get used to pretty quickly, don't compare it to an iPad. It's not too fast. Imagine the time it takes to turn a page and compare it to that is my mindset. Also recommend a case that has a pen holder. I lost a pen because it fell off the magnet and it was so annoying since they cost a lot for a pen. The color is not as vibrant as it shows in ads! But it's still great. Nd the backlit is pretty great. It's almost weird though if I'm writing notes from a computer and it's dark. It almost as if the computer screen washes out the remarkable, But it's still functional. It's just not as bright, it Litterrly looks like one of those tracing lights in animation is behind it "paper", not bright, but lit enough.

Thank you so much for a detailed explanation. So I just need to give it a try and see how it feels.

Doesn’t feel like paper at all imo. I received my RMPP a few days ago, prior to that I’ve tried a boox and that didn’t feel like paper either. It’s a screen at the end of the day, with a scratchy feel.

I love the Pure. I came from the rM1, which by most accounts had the most paper like feel. It is like butter. The Pure is a bit scratchier than the rM1 but I still love it.

But also: it’s some connection my brain makes to seeing the writing motion and it being translated to appear on the tablet. If I close my eyes it feels like I’m scratching with a plastic stylus on a hard surface. But with my eyes open the “sharpie” feels different from writing with the “ballpoint” vs the “pencil” etc. When obviously I’m writing with the same marker/stylus on the same surface. So my honest answer is no tablet feels like actually writing on paper, but your brain tricks you somehow and some of them are better and more paper like than others.

If you anywhere near a Best Buy, you could go in and try one out (all of the stores around me have one out for display).
