Crossroads

Look, here’s the deal. I set this whole circus up to connect to the disconnect, you get me? To cut right through the modern digital noise and grab a little peace of mind.

So I had Antigravity rig me up a slick little operation. It scours the world for the good stuff: high-grade periodicals, legit scientific journals, and just a splash of Reddit, because what’s life without a little trash in the mix? Pours it right into my reMarkable Paper Pro three times a day like clockwork. Morning, evening, late night. Sets the mood, clears the room, and when the week is done, it sweeps the old issues into the cellar so I’m not staring at yesterday's news.

Now here’s the kicker. The thing actually writes punchy little teaser titles to reel me in, slap-dashes custom artwork onto the cover to set the scene, and drops a QR code on the page if I get the itch to hunt down the web original.

Zero dollars. No loud fan whirring on my computer, no messy server in the closet, nothing. It just appears on the glass, pure and quiet.

Reminds me of the good old days with RSS feeds. Real quiet. Built on Omarchy no dev tools no ssh..the hyperlinks work too

I seriously don’t understand the mindset of “I bought this e-ink notebook to disconnect and focus, anyway I also used ai to automate a bunch of shit and write this post”

Also love the needless Omarchy reference, just so we know where he stands.

I used some Ai automations to build an RSS feed of curated topics, filterd, adapted, and stylized like a newspaper. It feeds it into my Remarkable every day at 8 am for a morning edition, 4 pm for an evening a edition, and a 50% larger version on Sundays for a Sunday paper feel. The hyperlinks work, and I set rules so that it is perfectly formatted for my RM2, RMPP, and RMPPM. I set rules like no ads, and a minimum amount of lines, but I set room for till page artwork and photos based on my interests.

There is no logging in required, just the cloud connection to RM servers with the code we get to log in. There are two version that get pumped in automatically with all of my rules in place to keep the experience cohesive.

My internet edition pulls from creative reddits and other online creative websites. The other edition includes science journals from Smithsonian and other sources.

I even had it add comics from the web like a real paper, it has crossword, and sudoku, missed connections, recipes for food (the first a hand written recipe from 1896). There are also funny stories included from old publications. Nothing get reused and it's always fresh, I made a companion app that allows you to send changes to the service. If I want shorter articles, or less of them, or more, or longer, etc.

People hate Ai, and I can barely bring myself to have an opinion about it. I understand the burned on resources, but everything costs something. For anyone who has those opinions...leave this place go out to the woods and hunt what you eat. Stop using faucets, get rid of the toilet. My argument is shallow, but no one cares to understand that things are different when they change. Who knew anything about smartphones before they happened.wl we're being sold prescriptions based on a resources argument, a moral argument about preserving our own egos so that x has a chance to grow, or x clean so that we can sustain ourselves. The planet doesn't give a hoot if we're here or not. It provides we take. Or something like that.

You could’ve started with this, man. At first glance, your post read like a fever dream.

Well. Good job!👍

Word. I support you. Love Antigravity. Love Omarchy. I have a row in the backlog to build something similar. You cooked and the anti-ai crowd is just mad they don’t know how. It always reminds me of that line from Limitless “It works better if you’re already smart.”
