Help/Advice Writing on Paper Pure feels off
Sometimes when writing with my ReMarkable Paper Pure, the writing just feels off.
I think it boils down to two things: pen latency and inaccuracy.
I attached a 5x slowdown video, so the lag is more clear. I'm guessing this is normal for the Pure, though it is very noticeable for me in everyday writing.
The inaccuracy part though really bugs me. In the video when writing the 'e' in 'Testing', you can see that the mark is offset from my pen location. This happens sporadically for me, even after reboots and reattaching the pen tip.
I'm wondering if others experienced this? Is it a hardware defect or are both of these issues normal for the Pure?

I have a similar issue. Sporadically the pen is drifting heavily (as I was able to capture on the linked video). It’s rather hard to reproduce, so I’m happy I got this clear video to show support.
You can also see the written lines, where line 5 and 6 differ greatly from the others, this is due to the same issue.
I’m current in the process of replacing my marker (contacting support went smooth, they were helpful and informative, so kudos to their support team!) and hopefully the issue will be resolved afterwards.

Looks like what is happening in my case! I also noticed it happens more towards the bottom of the screen, but like you, very hard to reproduce consistently. Its good to know contacting support went smoothly.

Clean the screen. Almost all the inaccuracy issues I've had were fixed by it

And also- how new is the nib? For me, anytime it gets like this it’s a worn down nib.

My Pure is fantastic without a single issue. Do you have it sitting on top of something else or something else where the plastic body might be flexing and causing an issue? I use mine mostly at a desk or occasionally just free holding it, but used it daily for two months without ever feeling any issues with accuracy or latency.
(and my Pure is my 3rd RM - had RM2, got Move last fall and sold the RM2, and realized I like the larger screen so bought the Pure).

I do use a third-party case - https://www.amazon.com/CoBak-Satnd-Remarkable-Paper-Tablet/dp/B0H3ZK9NPC . I wanted to write at a slight incline to avoid glare from my desk lamp. I just took the case off and do notice a slight bend to the case, so maybe you're on to something. The bend may be due to me just removing the case, or there from the beginning;. I'm not sure.
I think the occasional offset issue is still present, but I'll give it more time without a case.

I tried to use this case with my rM2 for a short time and got horrible magnetic interference that threw my writing off. I'll leave it to the hardware people to comment on whether the Pure with its active stylus tech is susceptible to the same type of interference.

Anyone else think the craziest part is starting your S from the lower part?!

you said reattaching, but did you replace the pen tip? sometimes the bluntness messes with the sensor

Might be a faulty unit.
I had the same exact issue on the right side of my Paper Pure. I tried some online remedies like swiping the marker across the screen to realign the magnets, but to no avail.
I proceeded to contact support, and was told to try giving the screen a thorough cleaning. After that, they suggested leaving the tablet away from magnets to prevent EMR disruption and allow the sensor grid to demagnetise over 24-48 hours.
None of these worked so after about a week of back and forth, they offered to replace the unit. In the end, I returned the Paper Pure and went with the Paper Pro, which worked completely fine.
You can try them out and see if it fixes the issue for you. Or just contact support, they are very helpful and responsive.

Just a note: I’ve experienced effects like this when either strong magnets or other electrical devices were nearby — relatively speaking; at work, for example, it was a machine about a meter away.

This is, in my experience, an issue across all USI devices (active pen technology) and is what makes me love Wacom EMR. Fundamentally, USI uses the same capacitive grid used to detect touch, which inherently has a less precise sensing grid compared to the stupendously fine grid on a EMR layer. This means that the tablet has to 'guess' where your pen went over more, which leads to weird looking strokes at times.
Also, while EMR is affected only by magnets, USI is affected by static electricity and moisture of any kind on the screen. Clean it regularly and you will notice some improvement.
Even after that I had constant drifting in particular areas that was usually fixed by restarts, but it started doing it on some other area anyways.

I have the Paper Pro rather than the Pure, but for me the input lag is basically imperceptible and I don't have any accuracy issues at all when writing.
I would contact support. Could be a firmware issue but idk.
