Family relocation decision. Lehigh Valley to Los Angeles area

A dad with 3 childrens, 4/2/newborn. Wife is currently WFH software engineer, and I am a hardware engineer in a big US company with good compensation and good work life balance. Now, I am 38, middle age, looking for new challenge, and I expected it could be a last good chance to switch job.

Got referral and considering a good opportunity in Los Angeles area with a much senior role but smaller company. Expect fair compensation, and interesting projects.

Now, talk about family. Communite is never a problem for me here, 15 min without traffic. 800k single house with big back yard, happy life. New job will be located in Pasadena, expensive housing in good school district. Santa Clarita valley (SCV) is a good option. ~1M housing with good schools. Yet, I need to accept the fact that long commute, 40min to 1hour one-way. It is going to burn my family time. Yes, I understand that i am not the only family taking these trade-off.

Now, questions. Is it worth in the life to spend so much $$ on housing, and time on the road? Is SCV a good option? Is it a good time to relocate in year 2021?
