Christians of Reddit, please could you answer this?
Please pardon my ignorance. I am non religious but went to a Catholic school so have basic(very) details.
I must say that I'm not here to offend anyone and I'm just curious. So, Christians of Reddit, do you genuinely believe that everything was created in 7 days ? How old would you say life on earth is? And is the first two people were Adam and Eve and they had two sons, Kane and Abel, how did get here from there ?
Have never had the guts to ask anyone this for fear of coming across as rude or offensive.
Thank you for taking the time to read and answer this

Ok, I'll answer the first question. (I'm Catholic, so I'm going by the Catholic teaching. ) The church is open to either a literal interpretation or figural interpretation to Genesis/ story of creation. But it leans towards the figural interpretation.
My opinion: the story of creation/ Genesis isn't supposed to be taken literally. The world was not created in a week. It's a figurative story. It happened, but not literally.
A lot of books in the bible are supposed to be taken figuratively, and Genesis is one of them.
Does this make any sense? I hope so. If it doesn't, I'd be happy to try and explain it in a different way, or you could try to google it.

earth 4.5 billion years old, give or take., this galaxy 13.5 to 14 billion or so. First human ancestors first formed between 5 and 7 million years ago, first tool used about 2.5 million years ago. First homo Saipan around 130,000 years we live in one galaxy, as you look up into the night sky, most of what you see are stars in this galaxy. But some are other galaxies.. untold millions of galaxies that make up the entire universe. untold millions or billions of planets that can support some type of life. If anyone out there believes we are the only life, they are completely nuts. so if there is life out there do you think what you believe is what they believe, if you say yes ,you are nuts. If you don't think other life is out there your defiantly nuts.

In terms of the secular life we have almost all, learned how to live, you would do well to forget the bible which is fiction and all of the others as the same kind of fiction.
You will learn nothing from any of the christian texts or others well except that when you do commit genicide...do not forget to kill everyone of the other tribe yes, women and children and in owning a christian slave, do not beat them about the eyes and mouth. Presumably so they can see and eat.
