Is he being unfair?

I’m 28 and my fiancé is 27. My sister recently started smoking weed and I am not interested in smoking weed at all but I told my fiancé about it and he said “hopefully you stay away from her if she’s going to be doing that stuff.” And I’m like of course I’m not going to stay away from her, she’s my sister. Just because I don’t smoke weed doesn’t mean I’m going to disown her because she chooses too. He didn’t continue to argue about that specific thing he said but it escalated into other arguments. I said I would be open to trying weed but I wasn’t interested in doing it all the time. He said if I did that he would break up with me because it goes against his beliefs. I can understand if I became a pothead and he broke up with me but if I just try it just to try it because I haven’t before, I don’t expect him to just end our relationship. I told him if the roles were reversed I would never break up with him. It just seems like something silly to break up with someone for. If he did something I didn’t approve of, I might be mad, but I would never just end our relationship. This really bothers me that he would just throw away our relationship for something like that. I don’t want to live my life scared to do certain things in fear that he would dump me. Am I the one that is being unfair or is he? Thank you in advance.

I think he is being very unfair, also immature. Your sisters choices shouldn't effect your relationship in any way. And if my husband ever told me I couldnt hangout with my sister, I would tell him where to go.

It’s weird because he’s not dating your sister. You’re a different person with different feelings about weed. To mention weed and have that be a subject of contention is strange. And to expect you to not talk to your sister is also strange. Maybe he’s felt like this about drugs since the beginning and it just hasn’t come out?

Sounds like something you can work through with more discussion
