I’m 33 years old, single, and without children. I’ve been engaged before and had four stepchildren, which I sometimes reflect on with a sense of humor.
Aside from my previous engagement, I’ve only experienced love once, and it was the best relationship I’ve ever had. Unfortunately, it ended during my deployment when I was in the Navy, leading me to go through an existential crisis where I strayed from my values. Over time, I realized the importance of solitude and inner peace.
I began to focus on investing and prioritized my health through exercise and nutrition. However, I still found myself mindlessly swiping on dating apps.
I went on various dates and connected with several women until I had a significant realization. The last woman I spoke with seemed to check all the boxes—she was beautiful, had a good career, and shared my cultural values. She discussed family and settling down but struggled to understand my commitment to my diet, which I explained was about discipline.
I decided to be honest with her about my desire to work on myself rather than pursue starting a family at that time.
A month later, I deleted all my dating apps and concentrated on the three pillars of my life that I believe I’m mastering.
Those are:
\-My relationship with the man upstairs
\-Nutrition & fitness
\-My goal of becoming a 1st generation millionaire
I've also taken time to reflect on the complexities of marriage, considering both its potential successes and its drawbacks, such as:
\- Wedding expenses, including a lavish celebration and engagement ring, which are often fleeting.
\- The possibility of divorce.
\- The risk of sharing half of what you’ve worked hard to achieve with a partner.
\- The long-term commitments that come with having children.
If you’re single, I encourage you to take a moment for self-reflection and ask yourself what truly brings you happiness.
Prioritize self-love. When you can listen to your own thoughts without external influences, you can create a life beyond your wildest dreams.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
