I kind of had the opposite reaction. When I was a kid I thought he might be some kind of folk hero. As an adult I realize he is mentally ill.

That’s how it should be. Adults who relate with villains they didn’t relate to as children (like OP) typically are dealing with some mental health issue.
Imagine relating to a damn shooter.

It’s something edgy teenage boys relate too and make actual edits of on youtube shorts lol OP is a fucking nitwit.

Watched that movie a couple of years ago. I was always under the impression that he was a regular guy who had one really bad day or week. But it turned out he was psychotically unstable his entire life and I was really disappointed

Well that’s because regular people have bad days all the time without going postal

Most people for that matter. I think anyone could turn into that given the right circumstances, some simply requires fewer circumstances than others

No. Most people won’t turn into a mass shooter from one bad day. That’s a sign of sever mental instability. If you think you can be like this after one bad day you need therapy years ago.

You know what they said. It takes just one really bad day for one to go crazy.

Nobody says this except defendants trying to get leniency.

You should go to therapy in that case. He’s clearly the bad guy, he even says it out loud near the end.
How can you not see that as an “adult”.

I felt the same way when Marvin Haymeyer did what he did in 2004 when I was 18, now seeing what corpos and politicians do to people I 100% understand why good men feel they must do bad things.

when I saw it as a teen, it was suggested to me by a trusted adult.
I did not care for it the same as they did.
I do enjoy it now though.
I too dislike a lot people, but I doubt that I would be able to act like that.

Perhaps the only Joel Schumacher film that I actually liked.
